lemoncake
Had to visit my Vet today with one of my monsters and saw this flyer. Hope Mods do not mind, but seems like a great cause. I have seen both of the people involved are usually seen on some TV channels and papers. I think both of them use their own money to shelter cats and dogs, pay for medication, rehome them and de-sex them. Great people with HUGE hearts. Anyhow seems there is a party coming up, drinking party where proceed go to them. I am going for sure, might as well have a few drinks and help the people who helping the animals and Pattaya as well. Anyone else???

Morden
There's an animal rescue centre on Koh Lanta. http://www.lantaanimalwelfare.com/ Also, SCAD in Bangkok. http://www.scadbangkok.org/ You can do something locally too. We have two rescued kittens. One was about to be killed by a dog that had already broken one of its legs and the other was found starving. Seeing them recover and flourish has been a joy.

I think scad is closed. also i am not the one organising it, i am only the one who is sharing it just saw the flyers at the vets and being animal lover myself having rescued and kept 10 in total now,i take my hat off to people who do this full time with their own money. Also to me the concept is really good idea, because no one is asking for donations, but having a party with profits going to charity. I am not a dinner or anything formal kind of a person, so this to me sounds like a great night to have a few drinks in a casual situation and yet give help So many of us would be drinking that night anyway some where in the bar or somewhere, so why not do something useful with the drinking money also the prices on the flyer look pretty cheap, i usually go for drinks to walking street, where beers are 170 baht and spirits around the same price. anyhow, might meet some members there, only hope i do not end up going home with another puppy or kitten , better call one of the organisers to make sure they will not have any live animals there or i will get sucked into adopting yet another one. I think i have enough for a football team already(10 in total) so may be a goal keeper would not hurt

This event will help dogs like this.

Not all soi dogs are as you describe. A friend of ours rescued a soi dog that was constantly attacked by local temple dogs. She cared for it and spent money on all of the necessary vet's. treatment. When she had to leave the area, we took the dog and found it a good home where it still lives.

Better to live with it and moaning about it all the time. In 17 years never been attacked on my bike or walking, but seen people who like to kick out at the dogs get a nip. chiangmaikelly
Last year I got a Soi dog pup. I gave her shots and neutered and take care of her. A lot of Thai people ask me what breed she is because the dog actually looks quite good. Strong dog, good watch dog. No fear while she is in our compound. Its really incredible what little grooming and love can do This pics are killing me, love to take one but already house and work full. I think the guy who runs mabrachan name is Derek, might be a good idea to give him a call and team up or something, or can always meet him at the party, i am pretty sure he will be there. Assuming the party brings some animal lovers, may be also good idea to speak with the venue and may be bring the pups along, may be someone will not be able to say no. Popular Post pattayaholiday
Thank you Lemoncake for posting about the event. I am from the hotel where the charity event would be held and can confirm it will be held on the 7 March, starting at 18pm. Early birds get FREE glass on wine on arrival. Some more interesting news - Mayor of Pattaya Khun Itthiphol Kunplome will be attending the party and will open the event, this has been confirmed today. -There will be appearance of few local foreign "known" people, people from media and radio - Hilton has donated some free meals at their restaurants, so there would be a raffle and few lucky people will win Everybody is welcome, we are not a girly bar, so you welcome to bring your spouse. If you do not have one, perhaps a nice stop before hitting the town. This is NOT a formal event, you do not have to buy a ticket or donate money or do anything else, but come around, have a few drinks, meet a few people and enjoy your night. Profits from the sales, i will be donating to Paul and Derek I want to add on personal note reading some negative posts, that what these 2 incredible people are doing is trully incredible and they both have hearts of gold and deserve all respect one could ever get. Paul and Derek, use their own money, time and energy to make Pattaya a better, safer place. They help homeless animals, by taking them off the street and rehoming them. In turn they reduce numbers of homeless animals by huge margins. Some negative posters, claimed that all soi animals should be killed, i respect your opinion on the matter, but have to wonder why have you not done that? Why have you not picked up a knife or gun and gone to kill soi animals? It is easy to sit behind the computer and belittle people who are actually doing what they believe in and trying to make a better place. Some have claimed to be animal lovers, but believe soi dogs should be put down, how many dogs have those taken to the Vets to be put down? Or is it again a case of just sitting on the computer and typing what should be, could be, would be and thats as far as they willing to go. Paul and Derek, both animal lovers, who believe and see the need to help soi dogs and cats. They do not post on forums, what should be, could be, would be, they DO what they believe in. They use their own money to help. To make change, one needs to start somewhere, and little things make difference. Both of these people have chosen to improve Thailand, even with little what they do. Anyhow, hope to see some people come for the night, and have some fun while helping our little friends

lemoncake
Does anyone know what the tablets used to treat mange are called? Apparently they are sold at the 'lower' SB market. Are there any shampoos that help treat mange? Any vets that will give me the 'Thai price'? Thanks Biomec - 100 baht for box of 10.Shampoo for treating skin not the cause Also have injections, but marston can tell more about this, as I never used it I use Pattaya animal hospital on Pattaya tai and he is great in terms of price and service.
