Now I think we've all heard those noisy advertising trucks driving through Chaweng beach road in the night time. Now there’s a new truck thats gone to an insane new noise level.

I was on the beach road last Friday night enjoying dinner when this advertising truck from a new beach club went past. It even had foreign girls dancing on the back! The base was so loud that most people had to cover their ears. I find it totally disrespectful and I’m sure it will put off tourists coming to Chaweng. Everywhere in Thailand has advertising trucks but not anywhere near as loud as the one's in Samui.

You have clearly never been to Ibiza.

There are no all night trucks there....just <deleted> northern European pillocks.

Ibiza has some lovely spots too....try Santa Eulalia or Ibiza Town on a weekday evening.

Respect to the OP for mentioning such a beautiful island....maybe we can get them twinned! laugh.png

Noise pollution is everywhere in thailand,i dont think it bothers thais like it does us.From jackhammers breaking up rocks, drilling for water, chain saws cutting down trees and yes trucks blaring out advertising slogans,it truly is a noisy country.

Well, your talking to someone who lived in Andalucia for 8 years. I'm not disputing the fact that Ibiza is a beautiful Island but over the years i've seen how these beautiful places get trashed by young kids who binge drink and take drugs. I've been living in Samui long enough to have see a real paradise Island. Do we really want Samui to be totally trashed?

Paradise online dictionary

Paradise is a perfect place or state. (noun)

  1. Heaven or the garden of Eden are examples of Paradise in the Christian religion.
  2. A tropical island where you feel as though everything is perfect and wonderful is an example of Paradise.
  3. Samui???????????????????????????? Paradise Lost at best

There are still many nice beaches and places on this island which is still considered "paradise" in my book.

Samui isn't just the bar beers in Lamai or Soi Mango you know...

Exactly, some people have such a complete blinkered view on things as if they walk around with their eyes closed. Have very selective views, completely ignore anything positive or good but boy, they sure love to remember anything bad or negative and get online drooling in anticipation of yet another chance to trash Samui....still, I guess it's what makes life more interesting :-)

Isn't it funny how as soon as even the tiniest opportunity to abuse Samui crops up the same old tired boring cliches come out time and time again...zzzzzzz

As to likening it to Ibiza??....my god, I almost...choked on my beer as it's absolutely nowhere close to it. Yes, obviously in Chaweng there is the Soi Green Mango area where the people party until stupid o clock. Of course it's loud but some people do actually come to have fun and to party...they're not all boring old partypoopers, ha ha.....

Personally I only ever go there on the odd occasion but the vast majority of SAmui is very quiet and tranquil really. Chaweng beach road itself is mostly restaurants and shops...I think if the Ibiza party crowd came here they'd be somewhat underwhelmed to say the least. That's what I love about Samui, it's the fact I can be on an almost deserted beach, beautiful, peaceful and relaxed and just have a quiet night.....but I always have the option of having a cheeky wee blow out with the party crowd if I feel the urge.

As for the Macdonalds and Starbucks theme that keeps getting regurgitated and leaving a bad taste in my mouth.....just don't use them if you don't like them...my god is it that hard, walk on by. That's what I do, in fact I forget they are even there as they are so insignificant to me. There must have been a demand in the first place for them to open up and must be doing ok as they're still there and going strong.....my god what a life some people must lead if they only judge a place by if it has Macdonalds or Starbucks, meaning it' an awful place.....I gladly judge a place on much more than that, but maybe it's just me and I'm in a minority and actually try to have a more positive slant on things??......

Well said clap2.gif

Whao! Whao Whao Whao....Thats English for stop a horse!

As a concerned resident i'm only raising a question. But as usual all the usual suspects go all defensive. If you read the post the concern is about the increasing noise levels on the Chaweng beach rd. Not about a scenic view whilst walking a dog. Chaweng has many 3,4&5 star hotels. How many of there guests complain about noise pollution?

Without "crackdown" or "hub" in the headline many will have no clue what you are trying to say.

I agree!

Most people are just stuck in the mud!

Even my Dog is outraged by the noise!

You can't hear the noise from the five star places.

Chawemg beach road attracts mainly a younger crowd who care less about peace and quiet and more for partying.

If they want quiet they go to the beach side.

Perhaps relative quiet might have been more accurate but you get the gist I hope. :D

His dog loves the woofers really.

This thread is all about his new Ibiza themed bar but doomed to failure unless he provides metered Ibiza style taxis.

Just my opinion of course....don't get all upset cos ya never been south of Lamai....:D

If you think they can't hear the noise then your living in a parallel universe. That statement is based on customer feedback!

Really I don't think there will be any change in noise pollution on Chaweng's beach road....lest it become even louder! sick.gif

Yes and if you actually cared to read my post you will see that I have posted how I think your view as to it becoming like Ibiza is a complete load of bull!!

What part of my post is annoying you so much? I have just gave an honest opinion which just happens to oppose yours completely and I took the time to even explain it. If you care not to read and take in what is being said then that is entirely up to you but in no way and I being defensive and a "usual suspect". I just happen to think that your headline is a complete exaggeration, nowhere near the truth and very drama queen esque that's all...have a nice day now if you can find somewhere that has no noise which is impossible according to you mind you so......:-)

No, that cars with the loudspeakers are not new, but here since ever, there were even boats in front Chaweng beach with loudspeakers years ago. Next no, most 3-5 Star hotel guests are not disturbed, because there are no loudspeaker cars during nighttime, less bars on Chaweng Beach road than ever, not one with live music, wind from the East during high season and most rooms are away from that road, traffic noise is more disturbing, but only at hotels with rooms directly next to that road. And next no, at the center of commerce there are no 3-5 star hotels, that strip between Chaweng Regent and The Library, and there are also many buildings with shops and restaurants in between the street and the small bungalow resorts there.

So, what are you talking about?

Sorry Birdman, but I had the misfortune to have to go into Chaweng last night (8 pm) and there were quite a lot of the loudspeaker vans shouting about the Thai Boxing - Tonight!

Also sincere apologies to you for abusing your name in a post yesterday. It was not about you - but a manbird at Samui immigration. Apologies for any offence. It was not intended.

Posted

sure there are this loudspeaker vans at 20:00h but not at night time, later than ~22:00.

abusing? whatever that was, mai pen araya,,,,

It's fair to say that the same type of tourist that is attracted to Ibiza is also attracted to Samui. Great beaches, party atmosphere.

Last time I was down on Chawang beach at the Arc Bar those people there were exactly the same people I saw in Ibiza in the 90s.

None of this a new development though. The trucks and the clubs were there fifteen years ago.

So there's a MacDondalds and a Starbucks. Get over it.

There was probably some guy in the 80s talking to the one other tourist on the island. Telling him how overdeveloped the island has become, man.

One noisy truck and all of the beach road is a Rave?

if you wanted a peaceful night perhaps the beach road on a Friday night was not a very good choice.
