BANGKOK: -- The tourism website TripAdvisor has ranked Krabi's Railay and Phra Nang beaches among the top five in Asia with its "Travellers' Choice Beach Awards", Wiyada Srirangkul, director of the province's tourism office, said yesterday.

The website gathered votes and opinions on the best 25 beaches in Asia from tourists worldwide throughout 2012 and found that Krabi's beaches were third (Railay), fifth (Phra Nang) and 15th (Had Yao Beach on Koh Lanta).

There were five other Thai beaches on the list, four of them in Phuket: Nai Han (sixth), Kata (11th), Kamala (21st) and Freedom Beach in Patong (25th). Koh Samui's Lamai Beach ranked 15th.

At the top of the best 25 beaches in Asia was the Philippines' White Beach on Boracay Island, followed by India's Agonda Beach in Goa.

India's Radhanagar Beach on Havelock Island in the Andaman Islands and Cavelossim Beach in Goa, Cambodia's Otres Beach in Sihanoukville, the Philippines' Secret Lagoon Beach in El Nido, and Yapak Beach on Boracay also won recognition.

yeah hong island beach beats railey hands down ,they have been saying in one of the guide books for a few years that railey is one of the best beaches in Thailand ,while it is nice it's to overcrowded now ,there is much better beaches on some of the islands down south ,I think trip advisor just uses feedback from it's site to rate the beaches the people that vote railey probably don't even know the other islands exist further south.

Koh Lipe and surroundings have the best beaches in Thailand! Getting a bit too crowded though, construction, polution, corals disappear ... sad.png

Last time I was at Railei, all the vendors sort of spoiled things. So I went further down where they weren't only to roll over on my towel at one point to view in the bushes one of the vendors squatting out a turd. Nice..............

Koh Kradan looks to have some neat beach and green waters, I'll look to get there.
