ianf
I have a retirement Visa which expires 1 June. I would like ti change this to a Marriage Visa from 1 june. This is because I would then need only 400,000 Baht in the Thai account. At the moment I have 200k as I have my timing wrong. Bit of a mess. What is the best way forward? beano2274
you can get an extension in Thailand for 60 days (I think), just to get your money sorted out as being in the bank for the correct amount of time, then just before the new extension has finished go to the Immigration Office and apply for a years extension based on marriage. Maestro
Any time in May, ie during the last 30 days of the validity of your current extension, apply for a new one-year extension but this on the line for "reason" write "to live with Thai wife"
wayned
As beano said you can get a 60 day extension for "visiting Thai Wife" on your current retirement extension to get the money sorted out if you don't have it in place in time. Then during the last 30 days of the extension, apply for a 1 year extension based on marriage. The money will have to be seasoned for 2 months on the day that you apply and there is more paperwork required and possibly a house inspection by immigration and a second trip to immigration to get your final approval.
