Applying For Thai Visa ( Non-Imm.b) Via Courier In Washington

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am going to apply to non-immigrant B visa in thai embassy in Washington DC, USA via courier service. I am currently in Houston.

Those who all have applied for thai visa via courier in past, can you all please share your experiences?

I am looking for information like the time taken for processing, potential pitfalls that could delay the visa processing, documentation required that's not listed on the embassy website etc. etc.

Any information shared is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Why not use the Consulates in Texas? Such as Houston?

Houston consulate only processes visa for US citizens (US passport holders).

They are the one's who informed me to process my visa in the washington embassy based on my nationality

Perhaps because of your nationality or the visa type but Honorary Consulates indeed do process visas for other nationalities. But Washington is the higher level option for Texas so should be good.

There is the Royal Thai consulate in Los Angeles. It is operated by the Thai government so I would guess that L.A. could process visas as well as D.C. can. I used them by mail a couple of times for tourist visas with no problems. Once I decided to drive there and apply in person. They were unfriendly to the extream. Since then I have only used the honerary consulate in Houston and by mail, but I have an American passport. I did not realize the honerary conculates don't process foreign passports.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you send your passport with visa application via courier and recieve your passport after getting the visa via courier?

If you want passport returned by courier (or express mail) you need to include prepaid envelope or a courier service form that bills the cost to the recipients account.

It can take the embassy up to 10 days to process the visa application.

Info here: http://dc.thaiembdc.org/consular/VISA/ProcessTime.aspx

Washington Embassy has Consular authority over the state of Texas so application should be sent there if it needs to go to an official staffed Consulate.
