Ocean Monarch - Semi Sub... Exploration in Indonesia (currently Arafura sea - West Papua).

Sounds exotic, the location. You mentioned semi sub. Are there fully submersible oil rigs/platforms also? If that is what it is called.

Nothing exotic about being in the middle of the sea for a month !!!

In answer to your question: The water is 4600 ft deep... The Rig floats, but not quite like a boat - It floats on huge pods which are ballasted under the waterline...

Semi subs - these platform are ballasted down in working configuration to minimise wave action. In transit the rig pontoons are fully exposed. Hence the term semi submersible. Never heard of a fully submersible rig but there are fully submersible production units controlled from a nearby production platform.

Normally work on one of the Aramco owned or operated surveying/ROV vessels in the Persian gulf, but currently seconded to a contractor survey vessel as company man in the Red Sea, just offshore of Duba port. Trying to get a pic up, but it keeps failing....

What can I say........w00t.gif Rub' Al Khali desert in the Spring, Summer, Winter and the Fall. We did get some rain last year, the first time in 10 years, didn't affect the plantlife very much or so they tell me.......I didn't notice the difference.
