angsta
That's pretty handy for the Indian government who have tried to distance themselves from this disgusting incident. They sent the poor girl to Singapore <deleted> just to get her out of the spotlight. Delhi is the biggest dump I have ever had the misfortune of visiting.
phuturatica
1 down and 4 to go! Funny that he had the balls to do what he did but couldn't face the consequences and killed himself. Coward.

Actually she was sent there because they have a much higher standard of medical care.
bendejo
1 down and 4 to go! Funny that he had the balls to do what he did but couldn't face the consequences and killed himself. Coward. Took the easy way out. I think the just punishment for all of them is toss them to the rabble and let the people dole out the justice. Didn't take courage to do what he did, he showed the usual spinelessness of a follower and went along with his mates. Doesn't take guts when you're on the outnumbering side. They should now put the others on suicide watch so the public can see them cower and plead while being fitted with their own neckties.

Jingthing
He probably thought, what bad luck, it used to be no problem getting away with rape in India. For the most part, it probably still is.
coma
Yes, you don't have to be proven guilty to face the TV Justice System, do you? Can we take his action of committing suicide as an admission of guilt or would that be infringing on your TV justice system beliefs ?
laislica
Yes, you don't have to be proven guilty to face the TV Justice System, do you? Can we take his action of committing suicide as an admission of guilt or would that be infringing on your TV justice system beliefs ? So it Was Suicide then and we know that how? In the source for the report they say: snip>Ram Singh's lawyer said his client had been composed and calm when he spoke to him on Friday and that there were other inmates in his cell, raising questions about whether it was a suicide and how it could have gone unnoticed by staff in India's highest security prison.<snip and snip>"This is not suicide, this is something else. I know he had a few complaints of jail authorities torturing him, but nothing that would make him take his own life. We can't rule out foul play. Nothing is adding up," he said.<snip In the old days when a man appeared before the Magistrate covered in cuts and bruised, the standard answer was "He fell down the cell steps Your Honour"....... Everyone knew that the person in question did not accidentally fall. To me, Chicog's post implies that the full facts are laid before the bench and a verdict be arrived at before we make comments on the matter. It's amazing to me that there a number of reports which get a huge amount of attention in one particular bias, only for new facts to be reported and the bias then swings the other way.

Yes, i have always been amazed when there is any thread on thaivisa where an alleged rape or murder is being discussed, to discover so many members are avid supporters of Sharia law. Whoever would have thunk it!
bendejo
All a misunderstanding, no doubt. He thought she was screaming because he was driving too fast. Just a bunch of guys having a little fun is all. And they allege that she was raped and is now allegedly dead -- silly girl couldn't take a joke. Is that better? Perhaps if she were your daughter/wife/mother you might see it differently. Edited March 11, 2013 by bendejo

Unless you have an abiding belief in Indian police investigative prudence, he was not proven guilty. I have no belief in Western law when it suits a quick result to sooth the masses, do you have enough understanding of the ways of Indian justice. Find the assailants, prove them guilty or not and if guilty, hit them with the full weight of the governing law.

The TV Justice system doesn't adhere to the normal rules of justice, after all. In fact TV CSI's have solved most crimes before they've even found a suspect.
moonray
Animals are being killed without courts orders. Ram Singh has faced alternative justice. If you read Indian press reporting - you can figure it out yourself: Ram Singh was killed by intruders not by his roommates, not by himself. They came with cell keys,no CCTV cameras, roommates sleeping ,no witnesses.
