PATTAYA:--Just before 8pm on Wednesday officers from the Police Region 2 Consumer Protection Unit conducted a raid of the Tuk.com IT Center in South Pattaya and seized over 500,000 Baht’s worth of illegal beauty and slimming products.

The raid centred on shops situated on the basement and ground floor levels and resulted in the arrest of 6 vendors but 4 vendors were able to escape.

6 shops were shut-down and products including slimming coffee and beauty products which did not display the correct Thai language labels to confirm it had been correctly imported for sale in Thailand, were seized.

How many exits are there in Tuk.com? Seems every time that there is a raid somewhere, always there are people escaping, do they just pay the door man 100 baht, before running out?

Five exits. Given the rampant crime in Pattaya, I am always amazed at the concept of allocating police resources to bust vendors selling improperly labeled bottles, rather than stopping the criminals preying upon the Russian tourists and giving Pattaya a REALLY bad name. But I guess the loss of tourism due to crime is a sort of alien long term futuristic concept, whereas shaking down vendors will produce the short term benefit of money to go to karaoke that night... :-)

It was the Consumer Protection unit not regular police from Soi 9. Whatever any police do, there is always another crime happening somewhere else. Petition more funding rather than expect them to be everywhere at once. My understanding is that on any given shift, Pattaya has less than 100 policemen throughout the city.
