Easy Pass

Featured Replies

Anyone have experience getting Easy Pass for their car ?

The website is hard to gleen info even when translated.

Thanks

My Father in Law got one for me so I'm not really sure... But, from what I gather, you can get them at 'some' of the major toll way stations by registering your car and placing the deposit.

You could pull over the next time you are at a Toll Station and ask in the office (or at the Toll Booth itself).

We got ours at the '10 Baht' toll on the way north out of town, seems to be a main office, just pull over to the left after the toll.

Little / no English spoken but it's not difficult. Try to go when they're not busy and they will help you out.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

after or near most big toll booths is an office, I got mine there with my wife, just pulled up and paid the deposit for it as required, got the top up card and a guy affixed the easy pass to my windscreen.

The top up card is used at the pay booths for topping up, at the time of topping up you have to pay the normal fee for using the expressway as there is no way of deducting it from the easy pass.

Example - I pull up near Prachachuen, pay 15 baht expressway toll and 500baht top up.

Always see people holding the thing in their hand when approaching the toll booths, as if you have dark windows it will not always work. If it does not make a noise, reverse and try again, or get one of the staff to assist you, if there is anyone around.

I got mine at the entrance of the expressway near Pradet Manudharm. You pay a "deposit", but it is actually at the same time a first load of your easy pass.

Honestly, I do not think I wish ever to revert to paying toll fees by hand... I have one remark however, out of BKK, there are still some places which are not equipped with easy pass booths.

The top up card is used also to reload the easy pass at places such as 7/11, etc. Easy pass is foiled (as are GPS) by films containing metal.

Once you have the contraption, it is so nice to skip all those cars waiting to hand over their bahts to the lady in the booth.clap2.gif

I bought mine under the bridge at the Ploenchit entry. Top up is possible at toll booth with the sign "Top Up" on top.

What I don't understand is why a motorway such as Kanchanaphisek has only half its way covered by EasyPass (south of intersection with Motorway No. 7). Northbound to Bang Pa In no EasyPass, not even planned. (They just rebuilt the toll gates).

Considering the daily madness at these toll booths, really hard to understand.

Thanks for the tip about Ploen Chit station

I live near there and got my Easy Pass at the small office

to the right of the toll booths.

Two questions;

How can you check your current balance on the device ?

What happens if your balance is too low ?

Seems there is no bar to stop you going thru.

Does the system just record you owe them 45 baht

and wait until your next top up ?

Thanks

1° Your balance is shown on the booth, when passing;

2° There is a bar to stop you... It goes up when the system records the payment and there is enough credit. If not... Well, you have to reverse out! biggrin.png

if you have 220baht but the expressway fee is 45 it will let you through, although the total should not go below 200baht.

Keep an eye on the reader to the right when passing through it should tell you how much is left, but beware that if you are too close to the car in front the amount will not change to what is on yours it will show the previous persons balance.

I was going to get them for the work truck but as has been said not all toll booths have easypass so we still have to give the drivers money. As for speeding through while sneering at lesser mortals. Try that south bound near Nam Wong Wan at certain times of the day! You can't get to the easy pass because of the traffic! Also no easy pass on the Motorway.
