Hi i am new to this forum and have seen alot of people get great advice so i am hoping for the same. I have been coming in and out for thailand for the last 2 years on a visa exempt stamp. I work offshore so only ever stay 28 days maximum at a time. Now i am looking to take 3 to 6 months off work and want to get a visa to stay.

I have an Australia passport but dont want to go to australia to apply for a visa. Where should i go to get this done and what visa should i be looking at getting. I have been renting the same place on a long term rental for the past 12 months and have a lease agreement already for the next 12 months.

I am also looking to get my motorbike licence as i have been running the risk a bit too long now, what do i have to do to get this?

I am not old enough to apply for any retirement visa either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

From the information given you qualify for Tourist Visas.

A Double Entry will give you almost 6 months with extensions and a border run in the middle.

Vientienne Laos will probably issue one.

It might be possible to get a Triple Entry Tourist Visa in Europe.

Each entry gives 60 days and can be extended by 30 days giving a total of almost 9 months.

I don't know if Brussels will issue, but many Consulates will. On the application form, request 2 or 3 entries, usually a space provided at the top of the form. Enter for a 60 day stay, apply for a 30 day extension if desired, exit while the visa is still valid and re-enter for the second 60 day stay.

Check it out, you have many possibilities where to get a Tourist Visa. One entry, is everywhere possible, two entries, check the list.

Driving license?

Do you not have one from your home country? Should be ok, also an International can be asked for, but seldom!

I have a car licence but not a bike licence, so i think i will have to sit a bike test??

If you not have the right license, it is not a bad idea to apply for a Motorbike license.

I think its possible to do that also with a Tourist Visa, do not know enough about that.

I think you should look around in the right "Motor forum", or search or open Thread in the Motor forum, you will find an answer. wink.png

Moto license on a Tourist Visa.

Thanks for the info. Looks like i will arrive for songkran on a 28 day stamp and then go to laos for a few days and try to get a double entry tourist visa. This should be the best way to get nearly 6 months if i get the extension both times???

Yes, just be sure to make the second entry while the visa is still valid, not the permission to stay date.

Your plan is solid. You should be able to get a double TV in either Vientiane or Savannakhet with no problem after you "dry out".

In the region, you get that double entry Tourist Visa with an expiration date of only 3 month.

So you have to mind that date.

You come back to TH, check after the border Immigration control that you got the 60 days allowance and before these 60 days are finished you go to a Thai Immigration in TH and apply for 30 days extension.

Same, -beechguy- wrote, "just be sure to make the second entry while the visa is still valid, not the permission to stay date."

You have to leave TH and come back to TH as long as the Visa is still valid.

That is three month after you made the Visa at the Thai Consular section in Laos, that date can be clearly seen in the Visa!

You will get also the second extension than in TH. 1.900 Baht an extension.

Have a nice trip. thumbsup.gif
