I have just been informed by the agency that my extension of stay has not been successful and I am wondering what are my other options? I arrived in Thailand end last year on a 90 days Non-B visa and gotten a work permit till mid this year. This is a newly formed Company. My 90 days stay ended one month ago and I gotten an one-month extension which is due end of the month while waiting for my application for extension.

In my mind, I thought of doing a border run at Mae Sai, will I be able to get a 90 days extension or just 15 days? Another option is to travel to another country other than my Home country, will I be able to get a 90 days using the WP? Which country has the best bet, minimal costs and the fastest?

Hope I can get some advice here, thanks in advance.

A newly formed company cannot show tax documents that are required for an extension of stay. In such case you can only get a new non-B visa in a neighbouring country. Under certain conditions you can even can get a multiple non-B in Malaysia.

A border run will only get you 15 days and will not allow you to work as the WP is only valid in combination with a valid non-immigrant visa. Your best option might be to apply for a multiple non-B in Australia.

Hi Mario,

May I know under what conditions can I get a multiple non-B from Malaysia? Are you referring to KL or Penang? Australia would be too far for me. What about Singapore?

Hi Mario,

Know of two cases recently where Penang have issued One Year Multiple Entry Non Imigrant Category 'B' Visas to applicants with the correct paperwork including Work Permit who were both employed by newly formed companies and were thus inellgble for One Year Extension of Stay on the basis of employment in the Kingdom of Thailand (National Police Order 777/2551 Case 2.1).

Required paper work is in the link below http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22B%22-(for-Business-and.html

My WP is valid till mid July, the agency told me I can't have it extended yet. My permission to stay in Thailand will end mid next week as I was granted extension of one more week. I don't trust the agency that I could obtain a one-year Non-B anymore, so am considering other options.

I would like to obtain a new Non-B for 90 days in neighbouring countries, is that possible? Can I use the WP as the supporting document for this application? What other Company documents are required? This 99 days will give me ample time to consider which path I should take.

I am in the verge of giving up doing business in Thailand due to the various red tapes but I would like to continue to stay in Thailand. I am a few more years towards the age requirement for retirement visa. What other options can I have? Is ED visa a good option? I reckon I should also pick up the Thai language. If my passport has 2 x Non-B visa stamps, will I encounter problem getting an ED visa thereafter? Does the IO scrutinised this guy is trying all means to stay in Thailand?

I am at a loss what should I do next.

If you have a work permit why are you not on an extension of stay for employment? Is your wage too low or company too new? That removes the need for multi entry non immigrant B visas which are becoming very hard to obtain.

((Edit: just read back and see it was a new company so extension was not possible))

Yes you should be able to get a single entry with full company paperwork as listed on MFA web site.

If planning not to work but need time until retirement ED visa/extensions for Thai study would seem a perfect fit. If you make any effort to learn language immigration is likely to be only too happy to help you - it is only those suspected of other activities (working without work permit) that they are concerned with - using to stay and learn language as a bridge to retirement age should not be an issue.

I received back my passport today with a stamp from the immigration indicating my application for extension has not been successful and that I need to leave the Kingdom of Thailand not later than end of the month, which is few days from now. I intend to do the following:

1. Do a border run at Mae Sai, so that I can stay a further 15 days in Thailand. Is this possible?

2. After 15 days, travel to Malaysia to apply for a new 90 days non-B visa using my work permit which is valid till mid July.

3. Or I may apply for a multiple entries tourist visa so that I can have more time to scout for a credible language school. I do not want to jump into anyone of those given myself no lead time to find out more about the and have more problems later. I heard many times about Walen, are they ok?

4. Try my luck again to apply for extension of stay if (2) can be successful.

Can someone who has experiences in the above can lend me some advice, please especially for (1).

A visa exempt entry for 15 days should be easy enough but you can not work while on that entry. You will need full paperwork as well as the work permit for a new B visa. If you intend to continue work you need a non immigrant B visa entry as well as that work permit.

I am pondering whether I should ask for a refund from the agency? I paid them to process the extension and they did not get what I need? As in most cases, everything is "should be no problem" prior to making payment.
