Dear Members, I'm planning on buying a Mac laptop in the very near future (probably today).

I was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere (cheaper) other than the Apple store in Central?

I would also appreciate any technical advice / recommendations anyone may wish to give me. I have already looked at online specs and prices, but if anyone has any personal advice it would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations / suggestions.

Prices for apple products are pretty much uniform in all their distribution channels. I would just buy it online at the Thai Apple store. Buying direct from Apple so should be no problems and free 2-day shipping.

I would recommend going anywhere other than the Apple reseller store in Central. My experience, and reported by others, is that they are unhelpful and do not offer good service. There are resellers in Royal Garden and Tuk Com. However, it may come down to just finding a store that has the model you want to buy.

You can buy on-line from the Apple Store; but it won't arrive in two days. The goods come from China or Singapore and Apple seems to have a budget deal with DHL such that they don't rush deliveries. My last purchase arrived in Bangkok from China in 2 days; but was not delivered for another 4.

I bought my Macbook Pro 1 month ago in the Tukcom Apple Store, had a great service and i even got one with a English keyboard :)

Last week i even could pick up my new iMac as well, they only had 1 in stock and i was the lucky guy (hopefully) they called...

I went to all the Apple Stores in Pattaya and i really prefered this one in Tukcom, in Central they have too many customers wandering and never buy and i believe thats the reason the service level of this branche is not good enough...

Thanks to all for your advise, and as mentioned above the Apple store in Central were pretty unhelpful!! I had selected a model that suited my requirements (@ 79,000 Baht) and when I tried asking for a case, or even a screen (film) protector to be thrown in free I received a point blank NO!

I'll have a look in Tukcom now.

Thanks again.

Keep in mind that you don't have to get service where you buy it. So if it's convenient to buy at Central, that's fine... you can still get your service elsewhere.

As far as owning your first Mac goes: You will HATE it for at least 1 month but after you get used to it it becomes easier or more user friendly. Don't forget to buy the Mac Microsoft Office for 4,500 baht and have them install it. You lose the old "Publisher" feature in Mac Office which sucks.

I highly recommend reading the tutorials before getting frustrated with your new Mac Book. Also keep in mind that all hardware for Mac's are expensive (cables, connectors etc.)

When I bought my first Mac Book Pro I thought I wanted at least a 15" or 17" the same as all my other notebooks however the resolution is so good on a Mac that I just got the 13" for size and travel purpose.

ENJOY YOUR FIRST MAC-MARE !!!!!!!!

I agree about the tutorials, there are some available on the Apple website itself and of course on Youtube. It took me a week to get used to it but i still cant figure out all the shortkeys but that takes some more time i guess :)

Enjoy ur new Macbook and please keep us updated about your experiences
