lomatopo
While they didn't show him a lot on the TPC coverage McIlroy did finish tied for 9th just six shots back from winner Tiger Woods, (as did Sergio Garcia, who looked great until the 71st hole, wondering who he'll find to blame?), so he seems close. 118th in driving accuracy obviously hurts but still 4th in GiR. Merion is a shortish course so expect he'll be in the hunt. Just a little over four weeks until we see the famous "wicker baskets". chuckd
I don't know when Rory will regain his form, but it certainly appears Tiger is back from the dead. Sergio is a cry baby.
lomatopo
Sergio is a cry babyWhatever he is, he really should just let this feud go. He keeps digging a deeper hole. Garcia Makes Fried Chicken Joke About Tiger Sergio Garcia's verbal sparring with Tiger Woods continued Tuesday night in Europe with what could be perceived as a racial reference aimed at the world's No. 1 player for which the Spaniard later issued an apology. Garcia, who took issue with Woods for what he viewed as a breach of golf course etiquette during the third round of The Players Championship two weeks ago, was asked in jest at a European Tour function if he would be inviting Woods to dinner during next month's U.S. Open. "We'll have him round every night,'' Garcia said, according to multiple media reports. "We will serve fried chicken.'' "Fried chicken" references are associated as racial stereotypes with African-Americans. A similar comment got Fuzzy Zoeller in trouble following the 1997 Masters, when he quipped that fried chicken would be served at the following year's champions' dinner, which Woods would host as defending champion. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/golf/story/_/id/9299934/sergio-garcia-makes-fried-chicken-remark-tiger-woods
lomatopo
Rory seems to be going backwards. After missing the cut at the BMW (European) PGA Championship last week, he carded a pretty ugly opening round 78 at the Memorial, positioning himself to miss another cut. dogpoo
He is stated as saying its all in his head!! Tiger is pulling away at the top and I am thinking Mcilroy is a spent force already!! Personally I think he has too much money and he would rather be with his gf!!
lomatopo
he would rather be with his gf!! Well she crashed out in the 2nd round at Roland Garros, to an unseeded player, so maybe they planned to tank both events in order to spend the weekend together? Maybe they can get a twofer on a sports psychologist?
Johnnyy
The change of clubs for the big bucks has effected many players in the past so its no surprise. Golf is such a fine from being great to just good.

dogpoo
I hope all works out and he regains the number 1 in the world, but there is a huge obstacle hindering any comeback, it's called a Tiger!!

Jumalauta
He will be back at the top, it's just a matter of time, for sure. He is young and will probably be in the game for another 20 years...I said the same thing about Tiger, now he's back, he as well have at least 7-10 years left on the tour... Golf ia all about ups and downs... Have a great weekend, cheers
