watcharacters Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 The last country to change was, I believe, Sweden in the late 60s. Italy changed between the wars, and in typical Italian fashion, changed gradually. Cities with trams were allowed to continue driving on the left (Rome was one) provided they posted signs at the city limits. . And done overnight wasn't it?
Unkomoncents Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 The department confirmed that many accidents with tourists happen because they go out and drink too much. Classic Thai logic: the problem with tourists and road safety in Phuket is the nasty, drunken foreigner. It's sometimes mind-boggling how disconnected from reality some folks can become. In Thailand, they've turned being disconnected into a high art form, yet the Thais haven't quite mastered the skills North Korea puts on display everyday. 1
pattaya_girl Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Is this for real or is it April fools ?? Maybe next we will all need a "dongle" to start our Cars
Considered Opinion Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Why is it logical... Just because thats what happened in America? Doh...Sent from my GT-I9300T using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app 1
Kayahammer Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 My computer has crashed. Anyone tell me what the date is?
Popular Post Beetlejuice Posted April 1, 2013 Popular Post Posted April 1, 2013 My son is a policeman in Chiang Mai, and he told me about this months ago. Preparations for the impending change will start to be implemented in some areas of Bangkok on September of this year. This is the reason why the waiting times for new cars have been so long. From the start of next month, all new model vehicles will be left hand drive. 9
watcharacters Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Nothing like great humor..."Per 1 January 2020 all cars in Thailand, including old cars, must be refitted. However busses, trucks and taxis will be exempted as they are driven by professional drivers who can handle their vehicle safely." 1
bri1guy Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Maybe the rest of Asia will go to right hand driving ?? Eventually 1
Detmar Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 A perfect story for the first of April! On any other day people might actually believe it... 555
khunPer Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 »Most of the ASEAN member states already drive on the left hand side...« »It is also hoped that the change will increase the safety of tourist, as most tourist are used to drive on the left.« Ops – It's April 1st today
canman Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 The last country to change was, I believe, Sweden in the late 60s. Italy changed between the wars, and in typical Italian fashion, changed gradually. Cities with trams were allowed to continue driving on the left (Rome was one) provided they posted signs at the city limits. Burma changed when the military took over 10-15 years ago. Second April 1st story which I almost swallowed today!
55Jay Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 The spokesman expects that the change would be without major problems or accidents. LOL. 1
lottidotti Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Has anyone looked at the date? Today is the 1st of April!!!!! 1
SteeleJoe Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 First one of the day? Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa ap
craigrosier Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 This is the most fantastic idea I have heard yet. As all the cars like to drive in the right most lane this will allow me to "over" instead of "under" take, for a few weeks at least.
draftvader Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 lottidotti, you got there first. I was going to ask if anybody wanted a new desk calendar! 1
xen Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Why didn't they set the date for change over for April 1st......... ohhhhhhhh sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssh, that is today and it is April Fools day too . Just a coincidence i suppose .
DualSportBiker Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 You might want to check the date on this story before getting outraged at the lunacy of the idea...
Popular Post overherebc Posted April 1, 2013 Popular Post Posted April 1, 2013 INSANE! This whole idea actually came from a meeting at the airport where they discovered that the runways had been put down the wrong way and the planes are now taking off from the end they should be landing at. The idea is to try to take the attention away from this and give everyone something else to talk about while they quietly reverse the runways, 6
Kripe Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 What about the headlights, they have to be changed as well :-) - this will never happen...
jack1964 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 HELL! thats gonna be dangerous . Anyhow, a large % of them drive on the wrong side already. Seriously guys, look at the date, IT IS APRIL FOOLS DAY. I love them all dearly, but they cant drive to save their lives, no one can afford to change their steering wheels over, and this will take four golden centurys for people to get used to. Unless it is a plan to take out the masses, and to eradicate as many as they can, as they dont have nuclear weapons, this has to be an April Fools Day Joke. Just some SANUK.
CroBiker Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 lol you morons....this says a lot about quality of Thai Visa readers
