New Map For Garmin Version 2013.10

Featured Replies

The first map update this year had been officialy announced. Also the name of the map had been changed from Thailand Street Map to Thailand City Navigator. From this version the udpates will be available from http://www.garmin.co.th (MyGarmin).

I don't have the details of current update, but the DUAL MAP (TH/ENG) file size increased from (approximately) 310 MB to 450 MB.

I think City navigator is a different product from Street maps.

The first by Garmin, the latter by Esri.

I got an email from Garmin telling me about this update, and how I would need to register with yet another Garmin website in order to download it. Presumably as they sent me the email it means that it is an update to the ESRI map that is installed (by Garmin) on my device.

Haven't actually bothered to register (again) yet but may do at some point. Their assorted websites make so little sense and work so badly it is very hard to do anything on them.

Yes. Very little difference from 2012.40 as far as I can see, so far, probably just minor corrections & additions.

As the file size went from 310 to 450Mb there must be an extra 40+% of something in it.

Maybe they included Dubai as being part of Thailand whistling.gif

Went through the rigmarole of registering again to Garmin.com and after all that it told me there was no update.

Went back to GPSsociety.com where it told me there was an update and I should log in to garmin.com.tw (Taiwan) to download it. (Why Taiwan? Why yet another website?)

Went to garmin.com.tw, logged in and it told me there was an update to City Navigator Thailand NT MAP 2013.10

Downloaded the update file, ran it, and that put the whole map into Thai with apparently no option of changing it to English. So I deleted the new image and copied the old one back.

How can a software company's websites be so totally disorganised?

CN Thailand NT 2013.10 FID = 2886 NAVTEQ.

CN Thailand NT 2013.10 FID = 2896 ESRI

Two different maps with the same name.

Sadly I have to agree it is a shambles. I bought a Nuvi that has 2011 data with a "Lifetime Map Update". I keep reading that there have been Thailand map updates but when I log in to their site and use my serial number it says no update is available. I am very disappointed with Garmin.

Don't take that as a given. All they need to do is change the digital mapping standard a bit, and instant 40% bloatware.

I'm afraid that the ESRI sourced Garmin nuvis, with the Thai OS, are still not supported by Garmin USA from their website. All three of my Thailand nuvis returned "no update is available". Nothing new here!!!!

If you want the latest maps try updating them yourself. The maps are freely available online, just download, copy to an sd card and your good to go. My thai nuvi 1250 supposedly had junction view when i bought it but it never worked. Now i download the new map and JCV file myself and it works fine. I have also updated the unit in my Toyota. You can choose your language Thai,English or Dual map. The best sites have all the instructions how to correctly update the maps and if you put them on a card you can keep the currently installed map that is on your nuvi. Its not as difficult as you might think.

About a year ago I bought a Nuvi 40 at the ESRI office at their office tower. We wanted to go in this week to update the maps for free before the one year was up, but when we called was told the office no longer did that for the Nuvi 40. We were told we had to do ourselves online. I had already tried doing it myself using their website to no avail. Talked to a manager there insisting they do it, but the answer was still no. They said we could come into their office and use their computer, but it was extremely slow and that we would have to do it ourselves.

I finally did get to the new map updates on the new website they are using, but the only map that was listed was the Thai version. I think I am going to try one suggestion a member made and download the maps to a card. Since it says Thai version, I am hoping there is an option to switch to English.

ESRI is one screwed up organization. Why Garmin would pick a company like this to distribute their products I don't understand. Anyone been told that ESRI will not update maps for you at their office tower?

^ No problems at all to do it yourself. Just connect the Nüvi to the USB port of your computer and upload Thailand City Navigator 2013.10 ESRI to your device. The other day I did that for my Nüvi 200.

The only map that showed available for download had (Thai) listed in its description. I figured it was the Thai version, but hoped it would allow me to change to English. No such luck.

Downloading to a SD card was not an option. So how do I get the English version if that version is not listed as available for download?

Thanks.

... long time waiting ;P ... but it looks like the map update is finally available for (1) units under warranty (Thai OS - purchased in TH) and (2) with the "Life Time Map Update".

For those who need to purchase the update ... will have to wait a bit longer. ESRI says it should be available this month.

From moris of course!! www.eaglegps.co.th.

It doesn't seem to be available for free download on that site. I did find this http://eaglegps.org/ which mentions that it is available but doesnt say where.

Given that Garmin/GPSsociety seem to have at least a half-dozen mutually incompatible websites between them some sort of precision is needed, I think.

After much searching around and much help from Google Translate (the Thai Garmin site no longer has any English pages for my device: really helpful) I actually managed to find both the firmware upgrade to V2.6 and the free 2013.10 dual-language map upgrade on one or other of the myriad Garmin websites. I installed them and they seem to work, in English.

These Garmin sites must surely rank as the most badly organised in the entire world. It makes me wonder about the competence of the people who make the devices.

I have the same issue. It doesn't cost much, but I feel so bloody ripped off and had the piss taken by Garmin. I bought Garmin trying to avoid crap like this.

I see people are talking about EagleGPS, I am just clarifying that I did not buy from them. I bought it in Bangkok, but I remember they were very helpful at the time, they were sold out of the unit I bought. My next GPS, if bought in Thailand will prob be through them.

Would it be possible for me to get this same information from yourself please?

Help needed:

For a tour of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos I need to find a map for my (Garmin) BMW Navigator IV.

What do you suggest? (Besides paper mapssmile.png

Much appreciated.

Try Rotweiler GPS maps or Noeman GSM, both on the internet.

My 3790V is a couple of years old so thought it was time for an update...as other posters have mentioned the websites are a mess but I managed to get it downloaded and installed eventually, and is it is in English

Cheers thumbsup.gif

Garmin - never again. I always wonder why the Japanese haven't made a good alternative like everything else.
