New Map For Garmin Version 2013.10

Featured Replies

You can't use garmin express for this update. You need to go to www.garmin.co.the and update from there using the Garmin communicator plugin.

argh autocorrect.

www.garmin.co.th (which you said you went to). Actually more precisely:

http://www.garmin.co.th/mapupdate/

Do it with Google Chrome and activate translation (that's what I do). It can handle the installation of the Communicator plugin for you (you don't need to manually install). Once that happens the website can talk to your Garmin directly and you can handle the map update from there.

If you look at the URL it will redirect you to the Taiwan website but it indicates your locale as TH. The mention of the SD card is just their default stuff, you don't need it (it basically says that you'll need an SD card if you don't have enough space, which so far the 2465 does not have that problem).

It should not be redirecting you to garmin express unless you're trying to update off the official US website. If you have to, uninstall garmin express then try again (it's not like you can't reinstall it right?)

All the "working" files are in .System - but I'm not sure how the Garmin authentication works now, it does not depend simply on the .unl files. If you just copy the gmapprom and associated .unl files I don't know if they'd work even if you copy it back later (the unlock setup might not work, I'm not sure which file it is).

Thanks but the tw site now does not want to accept my log in details anyhow so looks like I need to mail garmin asia directly.

What login details are you using? Its not the one you use for the gpssociety site

Yes but that is the same as the one I thought I had for mapupdate as well. When I try and create a new account it says I already have one with that email address so somehow the password is not what I thought it was. I have mailed Garmin and will see what they say.

Thanks for your help.

I had an issue with a Garmin I purchased last year in Thailand , I have e-mailed Garmin Thailand 3 times and did not receive a single reply.

Hi.

I'm in Australia,

Have used Garmin GPS since the early 310\320's and 40 H\Held.

I nowadays use "Refurbished models straight from Garmin in States.

with E Bay maps to suit wherever we going in the world.

My current model is a 700 series. with 2014-30 maps. GPS was $160 US del.

and latest map was $27AUD delivered. Unlocked.

I use it on mine and wife's machine. (Also a refurbish)

I'm just about to order a later model Refurb. they come from GArmin with latest model maps preinstalled for wherever you are or want.

I have US ALASKA. Mexico. AUST and NZ. So will buy Peru.Chili and New Zealand.

And will take with us on next trip in Sep't.

Just drop into hire cars and Wala.. Which hotel and what restaurant for tea.

My current refurb. is 6 yrs old with me now.

I just installed a new battery after 6 months to be sure. 10 minutes work max. Mine came with CD instructions and tools.

You can buy maps for everywhere Genuine.= exxy. Or Unlocked,

the same thing and a fraction of price.

Although factory ones have now come down a lot.

Used to be almost price of a new GPS just for map undates.

I had an issue with a Garmin I purchased last year in Thailand , I have e-mailed Garmin Thailand 3 times and did not receive a single reply.

I did not get a reply from Garmin but I copied the mail to the GPS Society and they responded reasonably quickly. Managed to download the new version so that has worked - only problem is that the actual device is playing up but unfortunately it is way out of warranty......
