Quick Question About Visa-Exempt Going On A 1 Day To Singapore

Featured Replies

Hi,

If I am to go to Singapore today or tomorrow to get a new 30 day stamp, does it matter if I leave the airport and stay for one day or not? I'm not really sure about the rules and where and when you get stamps. Would I get a stamp if I just stuck around in transit in Changi airport? Or do I need to actually leave the airport and come back?

Clear immigration and customs in Singapore and return to departures for flight back. you will get stamped in and out of Singapore. Otherwise you may not get a visa exempt in BKK.

You can return the same day.

rolleyes.gif You don't have to leave the airport but you do need to:

1. Exit Thailand and get your passport stamped on exit from Thailand.

2. Enter Singapore and get an entrance stamp for Singapore.

3. Exit Singapore and get exit stamp from Singapore.

You can do that without leaving the airports, but you need those stamps to make it legal.

If you can schedule the flight to Singapore and the return flight to Thailand on the same day you do not have to leave the airport but you do have to go through immigration in both places for the stamps in your passports.

At air borders, no exit stamps from the country you are coming from are checked. Many countries don't issue an exit stamp anyway.

Anyway, I can do this tomorrow for 2000 baht out Tiger Airways and 3500 baht back with Air Asia. Not bad considering the short notice. Only 4 hour stopover. Is it me or has AirAsia gotten much more expensive, perhaps it's the Songkran coming up?

Prices go down on June 1, although they are running some promotions right now, but you really have to dig for them. I just booked a flight round trip to Hanoi for May Cost was 3600 baht.
