Don't see why not, and haven't come across any legislation that would prohibit that. I have a cash account, margin account and derivatives account (3 total) with the same Thai broker. They are different style accounts though.

Possible some brokers may have system limitations.

As I said, I don't see a problem with that, nor any regulations that may prohibit it.

The most likely difficulties are practical. eg explaining to them why you want 2 cash accounts in your name, or it's also possible that their IT system doesn't cater for it. If they did have an IT issue the most likely thing they would do is give you two client IDs
