Hi

Marriage visa 60 day extension coming to end and any help would be greatly appreatied on any ways to extend it, even for 7 days. I checked some posts but could not find out if they allow you to extend another 7 days.

thanks for any help

The most that you will be able to get is 7 days since you have already used your 60 day extension to "visit Thai Family". You might need a ticket exiting Thailand during the 7 days. It's up to the immigration officer. The cost is 1900 baht. TM 7 form, pictures and copies of your passport pages and departure card. If you do a border run you can get a visa exempt entry, 15 days by land, 30 by air.

7 days to depart for an extension request that will not be approved is standard procedure for any stay for last few years so with payment for extension application that should be provided - or a border crossing for about the same price would provide 15 days for most nationalities.

thanks lopburi and wayne

just needed another 6 0r 7 days, so that should be fine. Im going later or tomorrow into the lion's den so i will let this post know what they say. Should be fine.

14 years of marriage and im still doing this crap, my fault i know but you would of thought they would introduce a common sense law that any one married over say 10 years would be treated with a bit of respect.

The Thai government are always talking about shame marriages just to buy land or something similar to that, but what about those of us that have been married a long time we get treated the same as someone who has been married a month.

there is no sense to their system,

I love getting in a little rant, nothing ever changes for the better with their system it just seems to get harder

If you got 400'000 THB in the bank or can show 40'000 THB a month earnings you will find them to be very accommodating, they will give you 1 year extensions.

It beats that hassle of always having to leave the country.

thanks satcommlee, trouble with doing that with me is that they want to see rental agreements and that type of thing(i move and travel a lot for business), also whenever i've wanted to do that i've always had to travel somewhere and needed my passport, i was under the impression they take your passport for 1 month before they approve a marriage visa, is that correct?

cheers

No, you get a 1 month stamp "under consideration"

If you wish to travel during that time, get a re-entry permit.

Never had to show any rental agreement.

thanks 'poorsucker' that's where i was confused the 1 month under consideration part, thanks for setting me straight.

i know diffirent offices have diffirent requirments, when i got a 60 day extension it was a mountain of paperwork including rental agreements, that's good to know that not all are this anal.

I travel a lot and i've never really had to bother about visa's as i was leaving the country so much and that would sort out the visa for another while. The last two years im spending more time in Tland and it's about time i got a visa sorted out.

The rental agreement is necessary to determine where you live, as that determines which office you must use. If you extend at the immigration office for the area where your wife is registered in a household book there is normally no need for a rental contract, if you extend somewhere else you need to show that you actually live there (thus the rental contract).
