Gym/fitness Center In Chiang Mai With Concept2 Rowing Machine

Featured Replies

I am trying to find gyms or fitness centers in Chiang Mai that have a Concept2 rowing machine. So far I am aware of Crossfit (which is on the pricey side and doesn't allow you to just row) and the Four Seasons (which is inconveniently located and I'm not sure if it is open to non-hotel guests).

Anyone know of a place that will let you row during reasonable hours for a reasonable price?

What do you men they do not allow you to just row? You can not join and only row, they require that you do other things too? What other things?

What in your view is a reasonable price?

Why a Concept2 rowing machine as opposed to others?

Its one of the best if not the best rower around. So it makes sense to go for such a device. I own one and must say its a great machine for its price. You can even hook it up to a computer.

^^ Because they are the dog's doodahs. Fabulous bit of kit and worth joining a gym just to get access to one. Few & far between here. Cali Wow (now closed) used to have them, not sure about Powerhouse (give em a bell, off Nimmanhemin). Perhaps what he means is they're not happy with people just staying on the rower so other folk can't get on, want folk to do their programme, worried it may get worn out, or perhaps are dissuading him from joining for other reasons.

Crossfit has its own special program...basically you have to participate in their "workout of the day" which includes a wide range of activities. Not a problem in general, but I'd really rather be able to row for 30-60 minutes.

I'm open to other rowing machines but I'm heavy enough that they have to be well-constructed. I know Concept2 and as another poster said they are pretty much the gold standard. Anything else would have to be comparable.

I consider reasonable to be affordable on a teaching salary and it obviously depends on what you get. Crossfit is over 1000 THB per month for 2 days access a week. Since I can only make their classes on Saturday due to my teaching schedule that is not really reasonable. However, if my schedule was more open I would consider it because you get the additional personal training.

And BTW, I'm a "she". smile.png

Where is Crossfit located? I had not heard of it before.

They have a nice website and are run by an expat. You can find your answers there.
