You Has Gone Too Far Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Greetings, A first post, and a thanks in advance. I've searched the forum with inconclusive results. Can someone provide me the current mailing address for the Chiang Mai Women's Correction Institute? As I understand it, the female prisoners are now housed in the old men's facility since the closing of the old Chiang Mai prison earlier this year. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lo
NeverSure Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I don't know the answer, but welcome to the forum. Someone should know.
You Has Gone Too Far Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Thank you, I will wait on them.
elektrified Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 It's where the men's prison was. At the corner of the Mae Rim Road and what is referred to as the "Ring Road". Sorry I don't have Highway numbers but you can not miss it if you take Chiang Mai 700 Year Stadium Road from the Doi Saket Road or the Mae Jo Road and head towards Mae Rim. At the Mae Rim Road turn right and look to your right and there it is. Edit: Ah I misread your post. You want the postal address. Sorry can't help.
You Has Gone Too Far Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Thank you none the less. Hopefully someone will know the mailing address.
Tywais Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I sent a PM with the address and e-mail that I got from their website.
masuk Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Mae Rim Road? I was taking touristy photos in the old city a few months back, and some guy rushed out waving his arms, saying photos were not permitted. I'd been trying to photograph the women's prison. Are there two prisons? I was allowed to photograph the restaurant on the street.

I think there is a legal dispute ongoing over the future of the land.
You Has Gone Too Far Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I sent a PM with the address and e-mail that I got from their website. While I was there earlier this month (April 2013), one of guards scribbled down the address in Thai. Chiang Mai Women's Correctional Institute ตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 142 ถ.โชตนา ต.ช้างเผือก อ.เมือง จ.เชียงใหม่ 50300 I've confirmed that it is the same address provided on the Chiang Mai Women's Correctional Institutes FaceBook page found HERE. I am unable to read Thai, but the above address appears to be an abbreviated version of the one you've provided below. Chiang Mai Women's Correctional Institute เลขที่ 142 ถนนโชตนา ตำบลช้างเผือก อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ 50300 My thanks to you! If anyone here reads Thai, could you please verify which address is more correct, or combination thereof?
mojaco Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 They both are the same address but most people use the first one which abbreviates the words tanon, dumbon, amphur, jungwat. The words ahead of the number "142" are better in the second one however. Sent from my GT-I9100T using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
