Just a follow on of my previous thread. I believe from reading on here that i have to submit a covering letter to the embassy. Any ideas what sort of stuff i should be writing? Cheers in advance.

You don't HAVE to submit a covering letter at all. It's entirely up to you.

Both my g/f and I submitted separate covering letters, using the opportunity to better explain our relationship and to strengthen other points in our application or to elaborate on matters not properly covered in the application forms.

If you believe that answering the questions in the application forms is sufficient to give your case officer a true picture of you both, then there is no need write a covering letter.

If i did write a covering letter. Would it be better typed or written by hand?

This is rough covering letter that want to submit to the embassy. Is there anything i have missed or you think will make it better. I dont mind critisism.

Dear sir/madam,

I’m writing this covering letter with my wife’s application for her spouse visa. To bring to your attention a couple of things. Firstly I am British and hold permanent residence for Australia. I have a job lined up for myself upon arrival as you can see from the letter enclosed with this application. Unfortunately they did not state my salary on the letter. I believe it will be no less than $25 per hour, working no less than 40 hours per week. This will be more than enough for me and my wife to live on comfortably. My friends Mr. Ivan McNeil and Mr. Craig Johnston have offered myself and my wife a place to stay until we get our own place. Upon arrival in Australia we will have to take one of them up on their offer to stay. But as we are married we will find ourselves a rented house or flat as soon as possible. Which I believe will be no more than a month later. I would also just like to add that I have lived in Thailand for the last 4 years. I have known my wife since 6/12/2003 and we met in Koh Samet just after the king’s birthday. Our relationship has been great since day one. Our relationship is genuine and for life.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing in support of my wifes' (insert Name) application for a Spouse migrant visa to Australia and my own 40SP application. I have known (wifes name) since 6/12/2003 and we married on (date). I declare that we have a genuine and ongoing relationship.

I am British and currently living and working in Thailand, but I am a Permanent Resident of Australia by grant. I have employment for when I arrive in Australia as shown by the employers letter contained within my 40SP application.

Upon the application being successful, It is intended that my wife and I will be living with friends until more permanent accommodation can be attained.

Kind regards

Jockstrap.... :D

Jockstar....sorry couldnt resist the last bit :o

You may have been following the posts in regard to DavieA and his application hopes...you are in somewhat a similar position, Unless you have sufficient funds in the bank, you may also be required to supply an Assurance of Support at some stage of your wifes' application, even with a guaranteed job offer.

For the covering letter...I would think so...it deals with the facts and doesnt elaborate too much. Again I would say that a Stat Dec is always better than a covering letter but that is my own opinion.

BTW is that THE Craig Johnston....ex Liverpool player ???

I have already got 2 stat decs but just wanted to include a covering letter.

And no its not the same Craig. :o:D
