The wife tries to save/re-use everything. I've found the best solution is to periodically, when she's out, to go around the house and throw out the accumulations.

I do the same but she remembers where all those empty bags, bottles and even old receipts were, then there's trouble. What I do now is hide stuff then if she has not noticed in a week chuck them out then. Best if people have been round then you can always blame them.

When I read the title of this topic, my guess of the actual topic was way off.

We all understand things according to the level of our own rottennessgiggle.gif

As to the OP - my lady does all things mentioned above and many more.

P.S. Waiting till somebody will mention recycled condoms...w00t.gifcheesy.gif

It was my birthday recently.

She bought the present herself (after I circled the catalogue) with her own hard earned coin.

But ... beautifully wrapped in previously used wrapping paper.

Mine fills the house with saved plastic drink bottle and cans and paper and caqrdboard then sells it to the people that comes round. Gets a few baht wqhich generally goes to the Mother in Law.

Cannot get her to turn off aq tap though..the water that goes doen the sink washing a dish is something a well trained Aussie would kill for. No such thing as using a sink plug.

Just a reminder, so she knew what bf to give the present to?

Funny that ... no problems with water wastage at the Farm ... except when the kids get a bit excited ... and no-one would begrudge them a bit of cool fun.

I'm hearing you about the re-cycling though.

The guy harry that you mentioned in your post

We are lucky insomuch as there is no shortage of feed bags at the Farm to store the different types of re-cycle in.

We need 4 bags.

  • Paper and the like
  • Glass
  • Plastic (non-PET)
  • Plastic (PET)

Nothing is wasted at the Farm ... biggrin.png

Yeh ... agreed ... but ExpatOilWorker's generally supportive so we'll take that on the chin as a bit of goofy humour.

My Thai now American wife was like this 12 years ago. She leaves the scratch wrap on new electronics. But aside from that and reusing ziplock bags she is pretty much like most folks around here. Too much food wasted. To much water wasted. To many clothes and shoes and purses and etc. come to think of it. She fits right in the western life style now. Works long hours and spends money. Bless her heart. Gonna be tough moving back to LOS when I retire. Living on pension and savings and social security gonna put a damper on our current lifestyle.

There are all Thai style habits, like wrapping the remote in plastic

Wrapping up your tools whilst in Thailand is a good idea.

Lock them away if you have an extended family. I've lost count of the times when I've gone to start a DIY or install job to find my tools have wandered down the road to BIL. Seems to be water off a ducks back when I complain. Happens everywhere in close proximity situations I would guess though

Maybe she saw he water bill in QLD David. It is outrageous there.

Actually your should be able to divert grey water form the washing machine and shower on the garden.,

Throw out! That's exactly what I do,there's only so many Jars, biscuit tins, and free frozen food plastic boxes, that will ever get used, and not forgetting those attempts at home made pickled onions and Blackberry Jam (it virtually solidified),that have been hiding for two years at the back of the kitchen cupboards. And my pet grievence is: half and quarter left over containers of everything imaginable, like Honey,Peanut Butter,Sauces,Spices,Mayonaise,Diluting assorted flavours of drinks, that have seen a Summer or two since last sampled, such as Lemon Barley Water, and worst of all are those part Jars of some foul looking and smelly stuff of some grey, murky, fishy Sauce concoction of Thai flavouring sick.gif ,now these are the tricky ones that are most important, to dispose of carefully,.... into the first public dustbin on the way to the M&P shop for a Beer, and when asked what happened to her whatever it was,in the jar ? in the interests of peace and harmony,do, remember to be a Gentleman,.. and deny all knowledge of ever having seen it.

And finally don't ask me about "Best before and expiry dates" I normally have to use a calculator for working the dates out smile.png

Ah yes, the chili and fish sauce concoctions. Don't dare touch those. Will toss everything else, but not the concoctions. Generally fearful of opening the containers. I do like the idea of tossing these in a public receptacle away from the house.
