Never Go To Thailand

Frankly, this video reminds me of every ad like it - predictably "clever".

After visiting Thailand recently for the third time I can't help but wonder if tourism won't actually be the undoing of the country over time. 90% + of the tourists there seemed only interested in the most superficial aspects of the country preferring to spend most of their "exotic" vacation too f'd up to even know where they were or unable to pull back from their Ipads long enough to actually notice what country they were in......

Good point, but, the majority of tourists are just that, tourists. Next year they'll visit Mexico and still be glued to their iPads.

Another one of Thaivisa's misleading titles designed to throw bait to trolls and cause controversy and bickering. lets hope the TAT dont ban it or the government for that matter.

In all honesty its fantastic - way better than any TAT efforts...

By any chance was it made with a GO PRO cam? what cam was it?

I think you'll find it under the heading 'reverse psychology". Post a tourism video under the title 'Come to Thailand' people know it's a tourist thingy and ignore it, 'Never Go to Thailand" though is a challenge.......Why not? I'll go if I want to! No-one tells me what to do!! So you click the link to find out what there is that's so terrible about the place........Gotcha!!

But if you understand psychology there is a limit to reverse psychology. Sometimes there is a thing called negative reinforcement. The title itself actually makes me feel less like going. Sort of like how studies showed that when people are told something negative about a restaurant for example but then that it's not true it still sticks in their minds (i.e. if someone says "that restaurant has rat feces in their soup.... just kidding! it's not true at all." you'd still be less likely to eat there).

I think a negative title doesn't work well with Tourism, especially "Never go to [insert country]" when said country is known for having an abundance of scammers, etc. But I understand this video is probably trying to counter those concerns with the upsides.

Negative reinforcement is more likely if the title is something like "Never go to a country known for an abundance of scammers." But such specific negative connotations are a distant connection to make, compared to the simple contrast of this title, and the apparent touring pleasure depicted in the video. I expect the overwhelming majority of people—this being, in marketing terms, the important fraction—to have no trouble recognising the simple link: a title that hints at something negative, but vision that immediately dispels the doubts raised by the title. The analogy to a more specific—and therefore more concrete—threat, such as rat feces at a restaurant, doesn't hold up. When I mention rat feces in connection with a restaurant, I haven't laid a hint at all; the horror is quite specific, which spoils any hope of pulling off a delicate semantic trick. In marketing terms, I've just shit in my own nest. So to speak.

I think you are correct on this. One thing that seems o be different in Thailand a bit is the level of idiocy there. No need to repeat the details as it's a well known subject on any Thai forum.

Dear, deluded George

You mindlessly disgorge

Propaganda made to show

To those too feeble to know.

This video makes no sense

The lies within it, immense

My knowledge of Thailand

Hails from cyberland

ThaiVisa namely

Whose members gamely

Speak of scams and Ho's

And countless woes;

Of two-timing wives

Living double lives,

While other wives

With rusty knives

They would deploy

Against Man's, tool of joy.

The posters acknowledge

That their knowledge

Is Immense-

And it makes sense;

I know they know

Because they say so.

This film that you provide,

I doubt it's bona fide

Its message I can't abide.

T

*With apologies to WinnieTheKhwai

My erstwhile friend from Chiangmai

For changing a custom reply

To suck up to a more important guy

Even though, with a name like George

Rhymes are harder to forge.

Nice video - but I liked the recent Thai produced video on erectile dysfunction better. You know - the one where the the aging (Thai) porno movie director motorcyclist takes his gorgeous lady friend into the bushes.

Now if they used that one it might really get the tourists to come.

Enjoyed this video. Now I'd like to find the one your talking about..

Just tried fishing for it on youtube. Lost in a sea of ED clips..
