International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde warned in a German newspaper interview Monday that the Ukraine crisis could have "severe" economic consequences for other countries.

Lagarde also told the Handelsblatt business daily that a 17-billion-dollar aid package granted to Ukraine by the IMF would not be enough.

"The crisis in Ukraine is a danger which is very difficult to gauge (and) whose contagion risk for other countries can barely be predicted," she said.

"All the same, it can have severe economic consequences."

Lagarde will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Tuesday for annual talks, alongside the heads of the OECD, World Bank, World Trade Organisation and International Labour Organisation, on the global economic situation.

Asked where the biggest dangers lay, the IMF chief pointed to the turmoil in Ukraine having an impact on international trade, foreign direct investment, international capital flows and Europe's energy supply.

"Ukraine needs much more than 17 billion dollars. For example, bilateral help from abroad and financial help from other international financial institutions," Lagarde said, adding that the international community had no choice.

"We can't simply say the situation is too precarious, therefore we're not giving money at the moment."

I love the markets here in Cambodia, but I avoid the corner with Prohok. Unlikely as it sounds, that version of fish paste is 10 times worse than the Thai stuff.

That stuff permeates everything within a 5 kms radius , interesting flavour as well , I suppose an ^ Aquired taste .

In all fairness: a few tears ago I took back a few kilos of cheese from Europe. Those real runny, smelly, wonderful cheeses that have an aroma that could fell an elephant 2 Miles upwind. When my (Vietnamese) ex-wife opened the fridge, she almost puked. We made a deal after that: no smelly cheeses, no Durian, and no "Mam" (Vietnamese fish paste).

Somewhat enlightening to realise that we can live in a balanced ( somewhat ) agreement of our own, and those of others different tastes , I am just giving a jest towards what all other associates would consider compelling as well , my wife went sick.gif at the odour of Vegemite and as did several of European mates I encountered over the years !

I am somehow a little bit resilient though and live with the ODD fragrance here and there , counterpart to a loving relationship.

On another topic hanno , I admire your photos in the Bird Topic-thread , some very striking images my good man , thank you for sharing those to all that wish to view .

Goomps...I just ran outta likes. However...what's in the container on the lower left

has a fair resemblance to the after effects of a night on the town in me loo in the

morning and even my dogs refuse to know me whilst legging it to "fresh air"

And Hanno...I can agree 100%...that stuff is rancid beyond belief....but the markets

are really neat eh!?
