I have the above visa which was approved by Hull. This is my second.

A Danish friend of mine has had three on the same basis.

He advised me that he had heard that after three non-immigrant 'O' visa running consecutively it was possible to get a year's extension in Thailand hence no need for us to return to our respective countries so that we can obtain the 'multiple entry' version

Has anybody heard of a ruling like this.

You cannot get a visa in country but you can seek permission to stay for a further year based on retirement, providing you are over 50 and have either 800,000 in a Thai bank of can prove an income of 65,000 Baht per month.

With a multi entry re-entry permit you can come and go at will.

Plenty of threads about it, and you don't need to have had three consecutive visas.

Suspect your friend is confused about application for PR which is three continuous years on one year extensions of stay (and many other conditions) and in any case is not available for those retired.

For above extensions of stay you only need a single non immigrant visa entry of 90 days.
