Reinstalled Windows7, Now No Wifi

Featured Replies

I had to reformat my Windows 7 partition to get rid of a nasty virus.

Installed Windows 7 again, but now the wifi adapter is not recognized and cannot connect to Internet.

Luckily I still have my WindowsXP partition working, but how to get Internet back for Win 7 ?

Let us help this man.

First thing - Check the model no of this PC/laptop, so that you can identify the WLAN adapator and download the driver

I had to do the same a few months ago. I've got a Samsung RF711 that's a fairly high spec and it came with a Windows 7 disc. I'd spent a week unsuccessfully trying to get rid of a virus and couldn't do a normal recovery so, thinking all the drivers would be on the disc, I reinstalled from it. I ended up with just a VERY basic windows 7 system. Thinking I'd been given the wrong disc I contacted Currys, where I'd bought the laptop, but they told me a basic disc was all that was supplied and i'd have to download all the drivers from the Samsung website.

Yes, I should have thought of that, but I assumed Windows was "plug and play"

Anyway, I downloaded the driver from ASUS website and now wifi on Win7 is working.

Now to reinstall eveything, but at least all the junk is cleaned out !

Dude -

You will need to download other drivers as well like bt, touchpad, hotkeys, kbfilters and other hdd drivers.

For software go to ninite.com and install from there. Its got all.the basics. Great dite and faxt dl of most popular progs.

As I said in another post, I've had good experience of Slimdrivers. (Free, but there is a pro version).

Id be interested in how well Slimdrivers works. I have my doubts. Desktop, hell W7 has everything you need. An 8yo Gateway laptop, have doubts.

I just dlld all the drivers I need and keep them on the same usb as the bootable OS. iso
