Guest houses are generally basic, cheap accomodation. That doesn't mean they aren't clean and comfortable, but they generally offer few frills beyond commission based tourist services and maybe a coffee shop/bar. Most don't have room for a pool, I'm surprised you found one.

For the record, the tourist services at the fancy hotels are also commission based. In fact, every tourist service in Thailand I can think of is commission based.

Top North Guest house has a reasonable pool...but by all accounts the rooms barely a Soi dog would be happy with...allegedly
