Well it is still a relationship isn't it? Just not the type that you obviously don't approve of. People get different things out of relationships. Sometimes one has no money and the other does so a part of that, maybe a small part, is that the poorer one gets some security. But it is still a relationship.

My mother didn't work for over 20 years because she was bringing up 4 boys. I suppose my parents didn't have a real relationship because my father was giving her money, hence, paying her to be with him and look after the family.

If I am in the west and my wife or gf makes very little money she definitely won't be staying with me for very long if I have all the brass and tell her to go eat worms.

On the other hand, if the guy is just on holiday and pays for the company that is something totally different. I don't know many that 'parade' the girls around as if they are gods gift to women though. It may look like it with how the women dress but it isn't the guys doing it.

Not sure I know what it looks like when they "run around like the biggest showoff ever" but how would you have them behave? Is there a level of humility or air of shame that you require?

I have long believed that most Western men go to Thailand for the women. There is a huge industry that attracts them, and there are younger pretty women available.

I can't think of many other reasons they move to Thailand, other than being transferred in by a multi-national.

Some are young men who aren't attractive to women their own age in their home country due to looks or personality or something. They never had a beautiful girlfriend. Why else would someone be teaching English in Isaan for US$1,000 a month with his college degree? Why else would a retired person with real money go to a third world environment and complain about the BIB and the corruption and the litter and the traffic and the smells?

I know there are plenty of exceptions, but I find it to be the majority - it's the women.

So each of us approaches it differently. Some marry, some have girlfriends and some hit the bars. None of the younger men are really sure why the lady is attracted to them, but there are enough horror stories from marriages to make me shy away. There are enough horror stories about guys buying a house and car for a wife and losing all to make me shy away.

Some say they have good marriages but it isn't over yet. There's a thread running right now about a 35 year old marriage where the wife sold the house for cash and disappeared. The guy claims to have been caught by surprise - no problems in marriage that he knew about. There are threads about wives disappearing with children. I don't want any possibility of any of that. This is Thailand and I can't have her arrested for that as I could back home.

So I don't enjoy bars or bars girls. There doesn't seem to be any outrage about older men going to bars.

But some sure get outraged if that same older man pays for a regular girlfriend. I don't see the difference.

I don't think it's anyone else's business what two consenting adults do. That point seems to be agreed to in many other threads.

this is only how i see things and as poeple on here more so in the farming section no me im not very good at writing and spelling,

what ever the age gap in a relationship is,

if the lady wants to go then she will go, so why do people worry about something they cant controle, if it happens it happens,

spend more time being happy and less time worrying about who is taking who out and how much is it costing them,

if still had the money i lost in england when i got divorced i wouldnt have to go to work now,

i cant for the life of me see why people sit at there computer bickering and pulling other peoples relationships down when they no nothing at all about them,

My wife is 20 years my junior, been married for 10 years and for the last 9 years, she has been supporting me economically. On basis of a business I financed, okay, but I don't work and get half of the profit from the business, for just being me!

I have a relationship with my kids. I have a relationship with the people working the front desk at my condo, and my boss and yes my dog.

No idea what you might define as run around like the biggest showoff ever but I'll take my girl wherever I like and if I'm proud to be with her because she's so hot or even if it's because I love her or because she just said something clever or because she's just agreed to have my baby or to do it in the elevator, whatever her reasons may be for being with me, love or money or maybe even a bit of both, not one bit of any of that is your business why I've got that big smile on my face.

It just seems that people on these threads try to come up with a one-size-fits-all,cookie cutter model for a successful relationship which of course is absolutely ridiculous!
There is no winning formula,just like there is no losing formula,you can of course increase your odds of having a successful relationship but I suspect that age would come very far down in that list,some girls like older guys,some like younger guys,that's all.

At the end of the day if your relationship is successful you don't sit there trying to discover the secret to it,do you?You just thank your lucky stars and try not to look too smug or be too judgemental on people,friends or otherwise,that don't have such good luck in their relationships as you.

I started reading this last night coundn't wait to finish it.SOME background( ihave been visiting LOS a few times.I am retiring there Jan,Feb. ) NOW i am 62 be 63 in Jan 14. The girl i met is spectacular she is funny down to earth and just as genuine as the day is long Her family is poor rice farmers,she loves farming,chickens,cooking and helping others. When we are together we are laughing and have the best time.SHE may not be HI SO in some eyes but for me she is a million bucks. I will ride this "relationship" for as long as it lasts .IF all i end up with is a couple months that will be more happiness than i had in my other two marriages ( yes i am divorced twice so i am damaged goods) But for some strange reason when i am with her all my short commings don't seem to matter. The girl i met is spectacular she is funny down to earth and just as genuine as the day is long Her family is poor rice farmers,she loves farming,chickens,cooking and helping others. When we are together we are laughing and have the best time.SHE may not be HI SO in some eyes but for me she is a million bucks. I will ride this "relationship" for as long as it lasts .IF all i end up with is a couple months that will be more happiness than i had in my other two marriages ( yes i am divorced twice so i am damaged goods) But for some strange reason when i am with her all my short commings don't seem to matter. Now as far as the age difference yes it is a factor but no more than the large difference between cultures .I am glad and proud to be with what some call "a girl no thai would want" she was married and had a child and is poor she don't have a degree (but she is smart) she has dark skin and probably more Lao than thai(don't know) NOW BEFORE I TELL ALL YOU sharks how young she is I really don't give a **** what you think of me.I quit living my life for what others think a while ago:) But i just couldn't resist adding my two cents(you know us yanks) SHE will be 23 when i am 63 I LOVE IT. now sorta what i said above i am not concerned about what tommorow brings today is the only day i have. I have survived cancer two exwives the loss of one son,my parents two sisters and i imagine before it is over i will out live my other siblings and my youngest son and my other exwife . But my GF and possible wife will still be putting a smile on my face even if she has already left me well there is more on my mind but that is the gist JRV

I started reading this last night coundn't wait to finish it.SOME background( ihave been visiting LOS a few times.I am retiring there Jan,Feb. ) NOW i am 62 be 63 in Jan 14.
