What's my options after expiry of current 12 month Non Immigrant O visa Multiple Entry ?

Before expiry I will be married to Thai national and I as the husband may just be able to show annual income of average 40k baht per month* and definitely will not have / do not want to have 400k on deposit in Thai bank account. I am now 66 but will not qualify for retirement option because of finances or rather lack of the required minimum or a combo of both.

If I do not want to go the marriage option, then to renew my current visa does that mean I have to go back to the UK to do that?

Any pointers would be appreciated.

* if I decide to take extra state pension instead of lump sum as I deferred pension for 1 year

Currently, based on your marriage you could get a new multiple non-O visa in Laos, Savanakhet.

But do take note that multiple entry visas are increasingly difficult to get. People are expected to extend their stay in Thailand at immigration.

What does that mean exactly?

Exactly how it reads - most local Consulates will only issue a single entry non immigrant O visa without a show of finances. In KL it is 100k. At others it can be the same 400k as an extension of stay would require. Currently Savannakhet is not requiring a show of funds but is the only location in immediate area known to have this policy for most applicants.

If you can show an income of 40K baht by way of an income letter from your embassy you can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai lady at immigration.

You can do this during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day visa entries.
