Daniel KPY Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Hi, I have been teaching for 10 years and am hoping to take a small break. I teach physics in Singapore. I hope to come here for some 6-12 months of temporary teaching and also to learn about the Thai culture. Where can I start? Anyone can help? Daniel email: [email protected]
Ijustwannateach Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I'm afraid you're probably going to be very disappointed. Thailand is a country where you have to pay your dues, and as a temporary short-termer, the opportunities are going to be thin on the ground. Most of the "good" jobs here don't hire people who don't have proven reputations (local connections) because you can make just about anything up on paper here. You could lie and tell an EP program you definitely planned to be here a year- they wouldn't agree to let you in on any other terms (school starts in late May/early June, it's already hiring time- better get over here and start pounding the pavement). Or you could settle for conversational English teaching, which you could do for almost any low amount of money you'd care to name. Check the Ajarn job listings if you want to go that way. If you stay here 6-12 months, you may learn a lot about Thai culture, but I doubt you'll get much science or math teaching done. "Steven"
