I suggest you consider BUPA http://www.bupa.co.th, AXA http://www.axa.co.th, LMG Pacific http://www.lmgpacific.com who are probably the three most popular options when conscious of cost.

Dealing with a reputable broker specializing in expat health insurance in Thailand should cost no more and present you with the comparisons plus advice specific to you. Among these are AA Insure in Pattaya which is frequently mentioned - http://www.aainsure.net , there is BSI Broker in Bangkok http://www.bsibroker.co.th (I work there) or the industry veteran and most knowledgeable person on expat health insurance in Thailand Tony Dabbs at http://www.e-insurethailand.com.

Not sure what you would consider affordable, however, in comparing various companies for coverage/cost I found AXA International to be the most competitive. Day to day medical costs here are very cheap in comparison to U.S. costs, so consider a very high deductible. I went with a $5000 deductible which will significantly lower your annual premium. Also, the plan I selected does not include U.S. hospitals, but just about every other country. This will significantly lower your premium. By the way, there are several excellent hospitals here, same standards as U.S.

Be careful in selecting companies that offer a 1 million or 2 million baht coverage. That is only $30,000/$60,000 in coverage, not enough for major medical issues.

It just looks that was because the choice in the "type of insurance" (#4 field with the asterisk) is set by default to motor insurance. But if you click on the little arrow to the right of where it says motor insurance you will reveal a drop-down menu that allows you to choose the other types of cover and whatever you choose will then change the information request part of the form - the lower half.

Yes, so that site does not impress SMS747. When on the travelpage and linking to 'get a quote' it should give the quote page for travel as default, not motor. When on the health page and linking to 'get a quote' it should give health as default, not motor.

Simply poor webdesign and very easy to correct.
