SATTAHIP:--A 19 year old student from the Sattahip Technical College was killed as she lost control of her motorbike and collided with a stationary truck on the Sukhumvit Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The truck had broken-down and it’s driver, Khun Somyot aged 45, was waiting for a recovery vehicle when he heard a loud noise and realized the bike had hit the rear of his truck.

The bike driver died instantly and according to witnesses, the young student was driving at a high rate of speed when she appeared not to see the stationary truck in-time.

Wednesday afternoon. Broad daylight. A long sloping decline with plenty of line of sight to see the truck and SLOW DOWN. The truck is parked on the curb. The truck is big. It is yellow; the same color as caution signs.

It is well known that Thais use the shoulder as a third lane. it is well Known that Thais drive too fast, without helmets, whilst talking on their mobile, etc.
