June 8, 201312 yr Can anyone please advise me on taxi costs to be shared by 2 pax. Looking at the map a more direct route to the ferry port would be to take the coastal/western road which seems to bypass Surat Thani. Any guidance appreciated. Plan is to fly down air Asia from CM arriving HDY at 1025 hrs and onwards to Koh Tao using the Raja afternoon ferry departing 1600 hrs or 1830 hrs if late. This allows 5 hrs+ for the taxi. If plan is feasible does anyone know of a reliable taxi driver?
June 8, 201312 yr Your plan is feasible. Taxi cost from HY to Donsak will be very high however, probably far more than your two flight tickets. I do know someone able to do this but they usually take people with loads of luggage and travel is by pick-up truck. Route is coastal HY -via Nakkon si Thammarat-, to Sichon, then inland to Donsak Terminal. They usually dep well before 8am. Maybe they do other times too. If you can be flexible about travel - including maybe having to overnight somewhere, alternatives could be HY to Surat by train or bus, then mini-van or bus to Donsak Terminal. But doing that way could involve loads of waiting around and no guarantees about arrival time. Costs could mount up too, just the trip into town from the airport at HY is 300baht +.
June 8, 201312 yr Chiang Mai to bkk.bkk to surit Thani airport.take bus to dansak pier.thats how I go.
June 9, 201312 yr No flights from Chiang Mai to Surat Thani...... Unfortunately! Fly CM - BKK & BKK - SRT and you will still be faster and more relaxed.
August 8, 201312 yr You could always rent a car from Had Yai airport and drop it off in Surat Thani, however, due to the one way fee it probably wouldn't be worth it so perhaps keeping it for up to a week so the one way fee doesn't apply (depending on how long you intend to stay in Samui) and then dropping it off back at Had Yai or alternatively, Samui or Surat Thani would be another option, though not the cheapest of course.
