Good point. There are probably too many soi dogs for the govt to round up and I don't think many folks would want to eat those mangy, flea bitten things either. Even if I were starving, I don't think I'd eat a soi dog...better to go for somebody's pure bred pet :o

What's interesting is that you don't see many stray cats around...cats seem to more or less take care of themselves.

cats are smart...they lick an'groom theyselves an' wait...

dogs are slavish an' go after their human masters with aplomb...

given that humans are flawed what would we expect from sub-species...

Lace small cubes of meat with chosen poison, I am trying to find good old aussie snail pellets or ratsak.

Throw the cubes over the fence or just leave a trail as you go for a walk one evening.

I am going to be doing the same with a house that keeps many mongrel soi dogs locked up in its yard, around 15 to 20 and they bark like crazy when people walk past, one starts then they all get going.

I figure a couple of cubes every few weeks and the population will decrease possibly unnoticably by owner of house.

A cube a day keeps the doggies away.

Be sure some kid does not find that meat cube first.

In my case, I'd need a truckload of bad meat to have any impact.

I'm not going to poison them but would like to find a reasonable solution.

Some sonic wave machine might be the best approach.

Your situation sounds pretty bad Skipper. If it were just a handful of them, perhaps it wouldn't be so hard to keep them quiet. I'm not sure how well those sonic wave devices would work on that many dogs. If you poison them all at once the noise would probably die down pretty quick, but then again after they're all gone more soi dogs will move in. Wats are notorious for having large numbers of stray dogs as they're often fed by the resident monks any other folks who live around there. The neighbors wouldn't look to kindly upon you for killing them, and doing so at a wat would be seen as even worse.

This is one of the "downers" here. Best option is to move. You could move to Malaysia where they shoot stray dogs. I really don't understand why Thailand has such a love affair with these vermin infested strays overpopulating themselves all over the country. It would seem they are the equivilent of the Indian sacred cow, ie some higher life form, although I am told that this is not the case.

Yes there's solution - some ultrasonic device. Can work to stop dogs from approaching you, or, after slight modification works as little siren. I tried one in pattaya, and fella-friend begged to sell it to him.

also idea about rat poison into meat cubes is good....

There's also a chemical which makes them feel like s**t - good to mark territory, wider and wider day by day.

In the more creative approach I would advice

1. Napalm

2. Air gun

3. Molotov cocktail

4. Horny beavers

5. Poor starving farang from Soi C***y or N***a - they can work on head per Chang bottle basis.

6. Tata Young concert - makes them sh*t to death

P.S. I hate them too, pls keep posting your unorthodox solutions.

Oleg, nice to see you on here again. :D

I would propose a submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missle with multiple nuclear warheads to solve the problem. :D

Confirmed dog hater. But hey, they started it first when I was bitten as a youth. I didn't eat their meat until well AFTER that. :o

There are so many soi dogs these days, I don't think a nuclear missile will get rid of all of them! Airguns can keep them at bay, but generally aren't lethal. Perhaps a bow or crossbow would do the job...practically silent and limited in range so it's not too dangerous in built up areas.

I tried to get rid of all the shitty pigeons shitting around my house and stealing my birds food relentlessly.

I first got a bb gun, this failed to keep them away, after the first hit they would come back, then sit there while repeatedly peppered. I did kill 2 though, one took around 40 pellets to the head before death arrived.

Another one I clobbered in flight with my sons toy golf club.

Another 2 I caught in a rat trap.

I tried to posion them on mass but they did not want to eat it.

I am toying with some laced rice, but need to find a liquid poison they will not turn up their shitty noses at.

Posted

Soak green peas or raw rice in vodka, the pigeons love it and it's very entertaining watching them getting drunk. After that they are easy targets.

Posted

Lol, might have to video that one.

Problem is that once 10 to 20 of them are rotten drunk and flying into the boundary wall, I would have to club them all.

Now clubbing one or two at a time is ok, but I am not mass murderer.

Maybe I could catch them alive, sell them to the market for roast pigeon with a special flavour.

Glad to see your highness too....

As we talk about "civilized" methods of flee-infected whores-of-nature a.k.a. "dogs"...

Obviously you cannot kill them - Zis is da buddist contry, right?

Also, you cannot play Tata Young to them either - this is worse then slaugher, almost zoo***lie.

The solution is to introduce them to religion and they will kill each other, or can make Alpha Dog, who will kill the rest of them.

The recepie is simple

1. Catch bunch of them

2. Keep them without food for few days - weeks

3. Drive them crazy with a pinch of pepper and 50 gr. of liver

4. Soon they will start fight with each other for that pc of liver

5. The winner will become Release Candidate of Alpha Dog

6. Feed him like bodybuilder and repeat from #1

7. After that - release the killer to the wild and enjoy...

Also, can use dogs viagra, but I wouldn't go that far...

I live at the Baan Chao Praya = Baan Chao Phraya and the dogs barking is terrible.

3 Temples nearby and a slum with hundreds of dogs barking all nite long.

Dog fighting, barking, howling, yapping ALL NITE LONG!!

Packs of sick willd dogs congregaet all around the area, Dangerous to even take a walk

Posted

tonight there is a full moon...look to see if the howling increases significantly. If so there's nothing to be done unless we grow fur, fangs and become leader of the pack...'shaddap now, lads...are we not men?'

howooooollll!!!

All the suggestions here are luvvally, and I wish we had the balls to do it, unfortunately you just don't know who might love that <deleted> soi dog, so a solution has to be found in a global sense, or in my case a village / /moo bahn.

I'm not gonna get knocked off for a <deleted> soi or any other type of stupid dog, so a mass approach has to be found.

The same problem exists here as in Europe in that a puppy is irresistible in it 's first months then wey hey it quickly becomes a soi dog, with its tits or balls hanging so low they scrape the road.

I have 5 Thai dogs ( no pedigree ) in my 4 rai meadow, and sure they yap like hel_l when an unknown visitor arrives, but they do not yap for no reason overnite, so that must tell you something. They are loved well cared for, and well fed: and not allowed to stray outside.

Any dog without a collar and a rabies tag should be chucked in the cesspit.

I'm guessing none of you guys are Buddhist, or if you are, you don't believe in reincarnation... Let's hope you're right, otherwise a few of you might end up as these same dogs next time around...

sbk, just to clarify one small point:

Hua Hin Dog Shelter is a Tessadban run pound which receives support from his Majesty the King.

Hua Hin Dog Rescue Center is an entirely separate non-profit org

Apologies for the interruption

Elle Lawrenson and her killer

Another case of a dog killing a child was reported in the UK, with a five year old girl dying after being attacked by a pitbull in Merseyside, England.

The dog butchered young Elle Lawrenson and died on the spot after being violently bitten several times by the pitbull. The grandmother of the child, Jackie, tried in vain to save her grand-daughter and suffered minor injuries in her arms and legs in the process.

The owner of the dog, Kiel Simpson was warned by a council about the brute's behaviour after a neighbour complained it attacked his dog.

The enraged dog was shot dead by Police officers. The officers were so traumatised by the bloody sight at the scene that were later given temporary leave.

Mash up some sleeping pills and feed it to them in some nice ground pork.

Just make sure it is enough to kill them , watching a dog die slowly is a bit of a drag.

Firstly, that's an owned dog, not a soi dog & secondly the blame for that tragedy lies firmly on the parents/owners shoulders! Is that picture doctored or do they actually have that little girl next to the dog in fight mode? Sorry, I didn't enlarge it to check.

Anyone who owns a dog bred for fighting and has children is taking a big gamble. Especially if said dog has already been reported for being dangerous! Humans are supposed to be superior in common sense & intelligence, obviously this poor child's parents weren't. The dog can't be blamed for something that years of inbreeding have put into its make-up (although I do agree it should have been killed), the parents were supposed to be the intelligent, sentient beings - not the dog. Dreadful tragedy, I hope the parents face a stiff jail sentence for it.

Where does it say the girl's parents were the owners of the dog. ? why would you think the photo is doctored? They are 2 photos side by side. Do you think they reconstructed the girls body, and stuffed the dead dog, so they could take a photo of them next to each other.?

perhaps we need to chain pit bull on every corner to keep the strays down

fight fire with fire they say

sad to hear about the poor kid getting mauled to death - but again it just highlights the stupidity of dog owners.

I sincerely hope that as the owners of the dog was previously warned that they throw the book at him/her and put them in jail.

Thailands suffering as it is with the Ex PM gutting the country, the coup, the NYE bombs, the corruption, the 2 tiered pricing system, etc - SO CLEAN UP THE DOG PROBLEM before someone gets killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apologies - I misread the account & thought that the parents were the owners. Re-reading it, I see it's different surnames. So, I amend what I said to state that it's the dog's owner's responsibility. I still don't see why the little girl was in a position to be attacked if it wasn't a family member's dog. Breeds like pitbulls are supposed to be on leads & muzzled in public, by law in UK.

The reason I thought the picture may have been doctored (maybe wrong word, I meant 2 separate pics merged, rather than 1 pic) was I thought it a very strange image, but couldn't see the separating line between the pictures.

The dog was owned by the girls uncle & the UK law states that these breeds must be muzzled in public but this happened in the grandmothers home so no requirement for a muzzle. :o

Thanks for the info, Boo. So what I said in my post still stands as my opinion on the matter, just substitute "family" for "parents". In a way, it's even worse that the whole family were so irresponsible. :D
