I just bought a car using LPG. I normally see the advertised price here in Chiang Mai currently at 14.76B.

There happens to be a a small LPG station very close to my home and their price was 14.37B. It is definitely a LPG not a CNG station.

I know the price of regular gas at the brand name stations is generally the same in a particular area so I was confused by the difference in the LPG price.

Are there different grades of LPG like there are with gasoline?

While there, I did saw tuk tuks and other vehicle stop to fill up.

I don't want to buy an inferior grade of LPG just to save a few baht but on the other hand, if this station just happens to be cheaper with the same quality, why not get it.

No different grades. There are different distributors though, all having different prices.

Up North a part of the price is transport, over here in Pattaya LPG is signifficantly cheaper.

Don't worry, just buy whatever is closest to you...

I hope you don't mind me playing devil's advocate but why would they charge about 2.8% less?

I have always found that there is very little price competition in Thailand for basic items. Whether an item is on sale or regular price, the various stores will normally have the same price.

Keeping in mind that I am new to the use of Auto LPG, I did some research and did read that different suppliers may have different % of propane and butane.

I found LPG to be cheaper at certain stations and many were affiliated, I never had any problems, the competition is just like with other forms of fuel..Not EVERY petrol station has the same prices either, not even between like brands..Some stations also charged more and didn't gave any perks like the one I went to always gave you a bottle of water for every 200b of LPG and was still cheaper than some others.
