Dear all,

I'm a UK passport holder and I applied for a 1-year non 'O' visa last December and I have a work permit until the end of November this year. From what I understand, I am coming to the end of my 2nd 'cycle' which means that I have to sign on at immigration firstly after month number one and then at the end of month three.

Does anyone know how long this is going to go on for? How many of these 'cycle' do I have to go through until they issue me with my 1 year visa? I paid for my year-long visa in December and now it seems that every 3 months I have to cough up another 1,900 baht.

Volunteering here is an expensive business.

Any advice much appreciated.

Immigration does not issue one year visas. It appears you may have obtained a single non immigrant O visa for entry and have then extended in 3 months periods since then on basis of charity work section 2.21 of immigration order 777/2551 as below? As you can read this only allows 90 day extensions of stay - there is no provision for longer than that.

2.21 In the case of working
for a public charity
organization, private foreign
organization, foundation,
association, Foreign
Chamber of Commerce,
Thailand Board of Trade, or
Thailand Federation
of Industries:
Permission will be granted
for a period of not more than
1 year at a time.
In the absence of the official
confirmation set out in clause
(3), permission will be
granted for a period of not
more than 90 days at a time.
