Just who would you sue? From PG post:

“Thank you for reporting it to us. I had not heard of this particular problem before,” sad.png Teeraporn Jirarattanakorn, Director of the Department of Rural Roads Phuket office,

Mr Teeraporn.is Director of the Department of Rural Roads Phuket office, which is responsible for construction of the road, told the Phuket Gazette.

But he cant do anything because the hole was dug by a ''contractor''smile.png

“The next inspection of the ongoing project is not until June 25, and so we have to wait until then before the officers from Bangkok can order the private contractor to repair this giant holethumbsup.gif

So..what exactly does Mr Teeraporn do and what is he really responsible for..and who of all these could you sue.?..just another indication of how LOS works doesn't workcoffee1.gif

You will come to learn that many Thai politicians and/or administrators will give any response, even if it doesn't answer the question posed or make any sense whatsoever, just so long as they can think to themselves "I've answered that so there can be no more questions on that subject".

It's as if they have never heard the saying "Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt".

Gaping hole in Patong street blocked off, partially filled

PHUKET: Despite what the Director of the Department of Rural Roads Phuket office told the Phuket Gazette yesterday (story here), officials jumped into action to barricade a giant hole in Phang Muang Sai Kor Road in Patong after two motorbike riders found themselves over their heads in water and their motorbikes marooned at the bottom of the pit.

The hole was part of the works in progress to install large storm drains under the entire two kilometer length of road.

The pit – marked with one Reduce Speed sign and a single standing steel rail barrier – measured at least two meters deep, several meters across and about 10 meters long.

“After hearing what happened to the two motorcyclists on Sunday, I called in the relevant officers and the construction company [responsible for installing the drains and resurfacing the road].

“I reiterated the need to install more safety features, such as lights and signs. I apologize for this problem, which has caused physical and property damage,” Teeraporn Jirarattanakorn, Director of the Department of Rural Roads Phuket office, said today.

More sections of the large storm drains have already been lifted into the trench and the large gaps beside the drains have been filled with earth.

The entire hazard has also been blocked off by a battery of concrete barriers and safety signs to ensure no other unsuspecting motorists have any similar issues.

Mr Teeraporn pointed out that the long-awaited improvements to Phang Muang Sai Kor Road are far behind schedule.

“The road was scheduled to be paved by December 19 [last year], but the work is only 40 per cent complete. It should be 60 to 70 per cent complete by now,” he said.

Great...maybe reactive rather than pro active but at least the jobs been done thumbsup.gif

But then this..:

“The road was scheduled to be paved by December 19 [last year], but the work is only 40 per cent complete. It should be 60 to 70 per cent complete by now,” he said.

It was meant to be paved by last December, but now , in June is only 40% when it should be 70%????If it was meant to be completed last December , shouldn't it be 100% complete now in June??

There just seems to be no rhyme or reason in the construction of this road...I've seen crazy in LOS but this is w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif

Hey isn't there a closed topic about how great the roads are in Thailand? I bet this hole was designed this way, part of the water diversion project, and these dumb guys just messed up.
