I'm coming over at the end of Dec 2013 to live with my english wife. I want to purchase a new Toyota Fortuna as soon as I arrive.

3 questions,

1. Is there still a 2/3 month wait for a new Toyota Fortuna

2. Can i purchase the new car without a Thai drivers licence....i obviously have a UK one and can get an international one before we come over.

3. If there is still a wait...is there any way i could purchase the car via the internet from here in the Uk as the deposit required is only about 10,000 thb........so maybe order in oct so the car would be ready for us when we arrive 30th dec 2013, we did go to the Toyota dealers in pattaya when we were last over but the girl speaking to us gave me her email address but i cant get any reply!!! Sounds about right for Thailand:-)

Thank you for any help

1. Why not ask a Toyota TH Website ?

2. Driving license is for driving, not for purchasing.

3. ? See answer 1.

Fortuner? Good engine, 3 l, 163 HP, but car much to heavy! tongue.png

Drove that engine long time in my GFs light weight Vigo-Pick Up, 2 door, 2 wheel driven car, was fun, and half price of a Fortuner..

Could drive circles around Fortuners. wink.png

Expats Range Rover, enuff said.

I live in Pattaya and have bought two Toyotas from new, on both occasions the two dealerships in town were as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Both times we ended up using a BKK dealership with all communication via phone and the car delivered to my door on the pre arranged day with zero hassle. Initially the Garages here were not happy to carry out services and warranty work as they were not bought here, but one call from the lady in the BKK dealership and all was sorted.

I popped into Toyota Hua Hin last week and ordered one of those new model Vigo's.

It was in stock so paid a deposit, wired the money to myself and I'm going to pick it up this week.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they might have one in stock - I suggest phoning the sales manager at a few branches and asking.

Those Fortunas seem a little too big and expensive for what I need a vehicle for which is driving to the shops and generally staying out of the rain.

You can ask Personal-shopper-bangkok to order it for you, I once used their service to buy my ikea furnitures before I arrived in Thailand.
