An anagram of 'Thai political stability' is 'hot capitalist liability'.

Not sure if I'd want to invest there.

Well then don't "invest there." Many of us are laughing all the way to the bank which is a lot more rewarding than posting a nasty anagram to which there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary..."Hot capitalist liability" eh? Ohhfacepalm.gif Hope feeling smug and clever has the same satisfaction as 3x gains.tongue.png

One thing for sure, you can't buy a sense of humour.

Whatever you think about the post, it does sum up Thai politics. PTP (Thaksin) good. Abhisit bad.

Surely foreign businessmen don't believe this crap. Did they contribute questions? Doesn't give the impression that it was any more than a statement.

Also sounds like something she hasn't a clue what it means.

Good relations with Britain since Queen Victoria. Certainly Yingluck is either thick, or has a totally different view of history.

Anyone actually go to this event?

Nobody mention the war ! rolleyes.gif

What war ? whistling.gif

Yep, that's the one ! laugh.png

I stopped reading when I saw the title.. cheesy.gif

I read it, but wish I hadn't. Was the meeting even worth attending? Wonder if she said "thank you 3 times" or whether it was all via an interpreter.

I was talking to someone who went last night. She spoke for 20 minutes in "English". She didn't take questions. But the food was good.

Given that the topic was 'The Government's Anti-Corruption Campaign', I am surprised that the OP doesn't mention it. (well, not really)

Was there any attempt to ask questions? Perhaps they realized she was just mouth and no substance, so didn't take it seriously. That's assuming they understood her "English".

With certain 'celebrities' it's quite normal that it has been agreed there would be no time given for a Q and A. In this case please also remember that PM Yingluck is a very busy woman at the moment. Telling her cabinet what she wishes, threaten corrupt officials, selling the Myanmar port to Japanese investors, and so on:-)

A post in violation of fair use policy has been removed. It is generally accepted, but not written into law, that quoting the first two or three sentences of an article and giving a link to the source is considered “fair use” and not a violation of copyright.

She said the Thai government was willing to cooperate with the private sector and to continue its support for foreign investment.

But haven't actually got round to it yet 'cause the Somtams not finished!

I'd support a system where any foreign entity has to put up all the cash up front and then hand over control of everything by them owning 51%. Let's face it you would never find such a good deal anywhere else in the world.

Give us the money and we'll be friends for ever, even if we get "unstable' whatever that means out here.

I have hidden a couple of offensive remarks.

you can disagree and not support any political party or figure, but we wont tolerate offensive name callings or implied vulgarity

any further such remarks - from anyone - will be met with posting rights suspension

I went. The topic was meant to be Thailand's fight against corruption and this made up the main elements of speeches from the British ambassador and bcct rep. Yingluck's speech was more focused on the relationship between the 2 countries and her trip to the uk.

No real substance to her speech but I think her English is getting better.

i disagree on the food comment. lamb was undercooked and fatty and was also cold as we waited 20 minutes for the ladies fish to arrive before eating. Expected better for the hefty price tag and given the venue.

Thanks for this post..... This puts the poor reporting into context. Did she squirm in her seat during HMA's speech?
