No problem....llet the tyres down and he will get out then pump them up again.....after all he might have fitted.

What's wrong with putting the bar a bit higher.

Those bars mean low obstacle ahead, they'd rather sacrifice the bar, but it's intended to give fore warning to a conscious driver before they do serious damage, to whatever is ahead, not the vehicle.

Was wondering what its purpose was as it seems in the middle of nowhere with just a warning sign on it. 2.6 meters is pretty short. Would also thought a bit more 'flexible' construction would be a better choice.

In the western world yes, there they use loose hanging chains or a bar that hinges, but in Thailand if the vehicle isn't stopped by force the driver with his Maipenrai attitude will continue his journey.

It's actually the height limiter for the flyover Asoke / Phetchaburi Rd. supposed to be cars only.

Both ends are well bent out of shape by various non-cars smile.png

Driver was 119mg (about twice the legal limit) and apparently had no licence.

At least that's not a Pegas or OA bus.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Dr. Worasak's Facebook has other police related images including a m/c guy who blew a 266mg and this gem:

Fact: Thai bus drivers are pretty stupid out on the highway or around town!

Yeah often times there is an obstacle even further up the road but no where to turn around for a large vehicle so they put these at the road entrance to ward off large vehicles with low clearance.

Yes and your point follows the picture as clearly that's exactly what this ditz attempted to do only with something less forgiving as intended so he paid the price and now he's made the news for his ignorance.

Yep a lot cheaper and less damaging to ruin a heavy metal bar (and a bus with an imbecile at the wheel) then a bridge overpass that could be compromised structurally by such an impact.

Comment: Why is the rest of the traffic in opposite direction?

In Western world eh? Not everywhere. Heard of 11'8" or Undefeated bridge? It's actually in the States.

I hope there is some notice up the road a bit further then just those postings just before the bridge, but even still it's a pretty inattentive driver that does that. Having said that my impression is just that, most of those incidents were rented trucks with amateur drivers and weekend trailer drivers, still pretty devastating not to mention, just plain mindless!

Funny thing is based on the reaction, I don't think most of the recV drivers even know about it until they get to the next camp ground and see they have a new, open air, sun roof where the A/C used to be! giggle.gif

That's true, most of those drivers are amateurs, I did read somewhere however that there are warning signs prior to that last intersection.
