This may sounds peculiar but on my last trip, I travelled around Thailand to meet up with several TV posters. Next time I will do that again. It is very special.

you made no attempt to meet me dry.png

Sir Naam, in respect, I have. But your surroundings and name of the place you reside made me feel reluctant this time.....

For instance: if you would live in a pretty house near a lake I would be attracted to go.

Yours,

I have met the most fantastic people on fb, i never expected it.

However they are strewn about the planet so personal contact is not likely.

I am open to suggestions how i could bring this closer to thailand, kind suggestions that is.

I have met literally scores of people that are, kind, considerate, intelligent, funny, deep, helpful, caring, etc...

And i would not hesitate in a heart beat to meet them in person.

On the other hand i found TV... well, nuff said for now me thinks

It is possible, Mr. Infinity.. I owe you a kind suggestion:

The same rule goes for real life. Meet up and hang out with people you really like and stick with them. Discard the people you have a bad feeling about, like Mr Streetcowboy indirectly suggested here.

I'd like to visit you sometime Naam! I don't know if I will ever have a reason to be in your area though. But I love your posts and am an avid reader of the "Financial" forums ...I prefer "Bogleheads" to TV, so spend more time there.

Pretty much common sense, but thanks and somehow due to all the interference, i loose track of who the good eggs are on TV. Maybe i should make a list or add them as friends or something like that.

If someone is an absolute jerk on TV, I wouldn’t expect any magical transformation to occur when meeting them in person.
Even if you get on well here, I still think it might be a good idea to start off slowly. Begin with PMs and emails, and the first time you meet, it is often best to choose a place you will be going to anyway, like the mall.
That way if someone is late or you don’t get on all that well it is easy to make excuses and find something else to do, without feeling like you have wasted your time.

Nicely put....

sigh... it is a fact that i live in a shack located in a poor moo baan in the outskirts of Sin City. but the wine served in my home might let you forget the shortcomings.

I reckon I've met about 30 members, in fact at least that. There are some members that I've promised to meet but haven't got round to it yet, I've forgotten none though and I'll make it some day.

I believe the OP is female? I've met several female members and each one has been a delight. Across the board every female member I've met has been at the top of their game, wonderful ladies. One of the downsides of the anonymity of the forum is that I can't tell you who they are and I can't tell you anything about them. I suggest that you consider arranging to meet any female members in your vicinity.

It is hard to avoid other members who live in Chiang Rai, so I have met several. Sometimes people will get in contact if they are planning on visiting Chiang Rai and it may lead to meeting up in town. If that goes well, then they may get an invite to our home.

Just this friday we had a regular poster from TV, and his wife, over to the house and out for a tour of our area. It is often nice to put a face to a name and in this case it was a real joy.:) I might mention that I enjoy meeting new people more than I like hanging out with the same people all the time. Just a quirk of mine.;)

Exactly. Why marry when you can rent.

Makes a bit of a difference where he lives. Would shy away from long-term residents in Pattaya wearing shorts and T-Shirts reading something like "I have been to hell and back" and displaying 77 colorful tatoo's and claiming to have "excellent-business-connections" in Pattaya.

=

Want to buy a condo? Need international health insurance? Want to buy 100 Gucci-handbags below price? Want to buy a share in a Khao-Lao distillery?

This is not to say, that all TV-members living in Pattaya, fit this description. But let's face it, if living in Patty long enough, one gets to know plenty of T-shirt-tycoons, having their eyes on the wallet of fellow Farangs, preferably newcomers. This kind, nobody wants (and needs) to meet.

Cheers.
