Marriage and visa

Recommended Posts

My Thai partner and I will be marrying in Australia in a few weeks. We will then apply for a visa for her to reside in Australia but we also want to be able to spend time in Thailand. We have a condo in BKK and on holidays and such we may wish to stay for longer than the standard month.

Also our plan it to live permanently in Thailand in a few years.

Is there a visa I can apply for once we are married that allows me to come and go as we wish (but does not require a work permit)? And will that help me get permanent residence later?

Any advice/suggestions will be appreciated.

The best option is a Non-Immigrant O-A visa (marriage).

Apply for a NON-O before entering Thailand. You must show marriage papers and deposit 200K Baht in a Thai Bank.

Documents to submit for visa based on marriage to a Thai national:

- Vital passport pages

- Vital work permit pages

- Tax ID card

- PhorNgorDor 1 (first page, your page, and receipt for year before)

- Last year's tax form, 1/2 page showing what you must pay, and receipt of payment

- Wife's ID card

- Wife's land registration

- Wife's passport (if any)

- Marriage certificate front and back

- Letter from your work stating you will continue to work for the next few years

- Passport, Work Permit

Wife must fill out and sign some certificate

Both each should sign the bottom of respective copies

If you don't work in Thailand, forget the Thai work related documents.
