Off Line GPS - Nav/Sat Program and Map for Thailand

Featured Replies

Thanks.

Just got a smart phone and would appreciate some suggestions on what app to DL and how to download and install OSM.

I will be using the Nav/Sat GPS receiver only on the phone.

Thanks.

Use Sygic on my Galaxy. Sygic uses Tom Tom maps. Another alternative is route 66. If its an Android you have then download straight from Google Play.

I've tried a few and think the Garmin app is excellent for Thailand. I'm not sure if you can get it for Android as I use iPhone; also the app is not free; purchase on Apple's App Store.

Oh yes - yet another reason I despise Garmin, they only suck up to the 'i-fans'.

Android phones:

Free offline SatNavs with good routing:
Mapfactor Navigator: Good but nigh on impossible to find on Play-store
OsmAnd: Also good
and if you are only after mapping software:
All the above use OpenStreetMaps (OSM) which has the beauty of being user updateable if you find errors or missing roads/tracks so benefiting the community :)
Sygic is also good and extremely popular with over 30 million downloads though this is a paid for app. with a 1 week evaluation period.
