Government plans to beef up parboiled rice production, vows to become No 1 exporter again

"Yanyong added that from a total of 2.69 million tonnes of paddy, expected to enter to the pledging scheme between now to this September"

Over 2011/2012 the second season crop had more than 12m tonnes pledged. Why is it expected to be only 2.69m tonnes over the second season of 2012/2013?

I suspect this will be accounting sleight of hand to fill the missing inventory.

why not empty all warehouses ?

get rid of old rice

get rid of high price of stocking rice

get rid of rice scam

first they ask all farmers to produce quantity, not quality anymore

so no need to go buy thai rice because it is superior

then they put chemicals to store the rice longer

the image of good thai rice is over

now they want to export to be nr 1 again

and again no raison to look at quality, only quantity

except the rest of the world knows by know about the rotten and chemical sprayed rice

good luck to sell

@ big loss for the tax payers

A question.

Since government buys at $545 or there about, so there is no chance in exporting it for less than that?

I am quoted $580 per ton this week by an exporter. The difference is very much.
