My one year Ed Visa will expire soon, and I would like to apply for another year. I have been told that I will have to take a test. Can anyone please tell me what the test consists of, what I should prepare for?

Thank you.

I do not believe there is any "test"

However, if you have been studying the Thai language for one year the Immigration Officer may expect you to be able to converse in

Thia !

The basics? Sawadee Krap? Where are you from? When did you arrive in Thailand? What day is it? Arai? Pom mai roo.

It all depends which Immigration office. I can remember a post that immigration (believe it was Phuket (but can't find the link) was asking about all consonants and vowels and their correct pronunciation.

But here are some other older topics to get you started

And if you regularly go to School, it shouldn't be a problem any way thumbsup.gif

Basically it is an Immigration teasing action.

It's up to the Ministry of Education whether you do or do not qualify for an ED-visa or an ED-extension. THEY submit the documents asking for an extension based on you being a student at one of the by the MoE accredited educational institutes.

The Immigration test is just something officers use to embarrass you, because 9-out-of-10 times you make "stupid" mistakes.

Of course..........if you completely fail any "immigration test" it may be a reason to start talking about hot tea money. That's one of the reasons that someone from the school will join you.

I believe that granting an extension of stay is solely a matter for the Immigration Officers.

I, personally, am aware of one individual being refused a further extension of stay based on education.
