Sponsoring for Australian Partner Visa

Featured Replies

My husband and I are looking to move to Australia and we are in the process of applying for his partner migration visa. We have been living together in Thailand for just over 3 years and as such I have not been working in Australia. Will I still be able to sponsor my husband? I have investments and savings that would be sufficient, does the embassy accept that or do I have to have an income?

Thanks

OP: You can downlad the DIAC booklet coverning sponsoring a partner at the following URL. To answer your financial question it states "If your partner applies for and is granted a Partner visa, as sponsor you agree to provide adequate accommodation and financial assistance as required to meet your partner’s reasonable living needs. If your partner is applying outside Australia, this assistance would cover their first 2 years in Australia"

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books1.htm

EDIT: Contact DIAC office at the Bangkok Embassy to see if they will clarify the definition/requirement for "financial assistance"

What is the point of starting a new thread with the same information?

Although, to be fair this "new" version appears to be the slightly redacted one..

Indeed, please don't open new threads asking the same question.
