BANGKOK, July 17 - Thailand's Special Investigation Department (DSI) asked the Criminal Court to approve an arrest warrant for Wiraphon Sukphon, the former Buddhist monk previously known as Luang Pu Nen Kham, for allegedly violating the Computer Crime Act, having sex with a minor and fraud.

Thaweewat Surasit, director of the DSI's Bureau of Security Crime, said the agency is confident that all evidence submitted to the court is sufficient for an approval but that it depends on the court's discretion.

Once the warrant is approved, the DSI will seek cooperation from the Foreign Ministry and the Immigration Bureau to have Mr Wiraphon extradited to stand trial in Thailand.

The Anti-Money Laundering Office would also be asked to freeze all ill-gotten assets of the former monk, he said.

The disrobed monk, whose footage of him and two other monks travelling in a private jet,
wearing sunglasses and having expensive gadgets as well as a brandname bag, went viral
and became a top news headline, was accused of deceiving people by advertising seeking donations and a sex offence with an underage girl about a decade ago.

The DSI found he has 41 bank accounts and more than 70 luxury cars in his possession.

However the bank accounts with 200-300 million baht in daily circulation were recently found to have only 2-3 million baht remaining, according to Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) adviser Narong Rattananukul. (MCOT online news)

BANGKOK, July 18 - The Special Investigation Department will ask the Consular Affairs Department to revoke the passport of Wiraphon Sukphon, a former Buddhist monk, and will seek help from Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, to locate the ex-monk.

Speaking on the progress of the case after the Criminal Court approved an arrest warrant for Mr Wiraphon yesterday, DSI director-general Tarit Pengdith said the agency will submit a letter to the Consular Affairs Department asking it to revoke his passport.

In addition, the DSI chief said Interpol would also be asked to track down the defrocked monk so that he would be deported to face trial in Thailand.

It is believed that Mr Wiraphon is still staying abroad.

The former Buddhist monk, previously known as Luang Pu Nen Kham, was sought for allegedly violating the Computer Crime Law by deceiving people through advertising on his website seeking donations and having sex with a minor as well as fraud.

The DSI earlier found he has 41 bank accounts and more than 70 luxury cars in his possession.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) reportedly found another 59 bank accounts believed to be linked with Mr Wiraphon. Among those, three bank accounts were found to have active transactions worth several million baht. The money trail would be probed to determine the source of the funds in each account. Oyy Boy.... Here we go again....

If this bum is currently hanging out in America, there are plenty of bounty hunters who will be glad to bring him back, for a price. And for a guarantee that they won't get hassled themselves by Thai authorities. What would a job like that pay?
