July 18, 201313 yr Windows is seriously damaged by virus and can't be opened. So, I want to delete everything and make a clean installation. I insert the xp-disk and the computer starts downloading setup files. The loading stops during the download of setup files, before I reach the "partition" bit, because "...a problem has been detected and windows shut down....". For a non-expert the best solution seems to be to overrule this shutdown of the download, so that I can continue to the "partition" bit, where I can delete everything and continue my clean download. ?

My problem is that I can't figure out how to overrule this stop in the download. You can't. Wipe the partitions first and create a new one (or two, up to you). Download this, burn to a CD and boot. http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html
