New Bike Insurance, is it possible and trustworthy ?

Featured Replies

Alarmed by the answers to the "no registration book" post by me, I am considering buying new.

In view of the accident rate and incidence of theft, I ask if any insurer would insure a motorcycle. ?

If so are there any particular issues to look out for please ?

I have done a search here for "insurance" and was surprised to get no results.

Thank You

The simplified answer to that question is “yes” but depending on the insurance company, the make of bike, size of engine etc the offerings can vary greatly.

Suggest initially to decide on the bike you want then go out and ask for quotes – just like you would for any vehicle.

May we suggest for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Class quotes you go HERE

If you are going to buy a new 'bigger' bike, then Kawasaki or Honda will arrange 1st class insurance for you.

Most dealers be it big or small bikes will have package deals including insurance.
It's really not such a big deal and providing you have a Thai license then you won't have any issues come claim time

The "package" of insurance that was provided when I purchased my used bike was mandatory, (no problem there), but only covered medical up to 15,000 baht. No coverage for the bike.
